Don Matheson - Class Of 1952

Funeral services for Pinckney Donovan "Don" Matheson, 75, Quitman, TX were held Friday, July 24, 2009 at Lowe Funeral Home in Quitman with the Reverend Fred Morrow and Reverend James Nickell officiating.  Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Mineola, TX under the direction of Lowe Funeral Home, Quitman.  Don went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2009 at his home in the Forest Hill Community after a lengthy illness.

He was born October 11, 1933 in Quitman to the late Monroe Pinckney Matheson and Euela Ellison Matheson Roberts and lived most of his life in Quitman.  He was an Army veteran, having served in El Paso, Texas, Oklahoma and West Germany.  He was a member of the Flora Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason.  He was also a retired asbestos worker who belonged to the Asbestos Local 21 of Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Howard Matheson and Clarence "Ron" Matheson; sister: Wilma Low Bagby; daughter: Donna Matheson; and grandchildren: Lindsey Matheson, Kendra Matheson and Jason Ramsey.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Neta Matheson; daughter and son-in-law: Sherie and Billy Ray Ramsey, Quitman; son and daughter-in-law: Stacy and Kelli Matheson, Quitman; grandchildren: SSG Dakota Hubbard and his wife SGT Heather Hubbard, Ft. Bliss, TX, PFC Nathan Ramsey, Quitman, Amber Matheson, Quitman and Brianna Harbin, Quitman; great granddaughter: Katelyn Mae Hubbard, El Paso, TX; sisters: Virgie Collins, Alba, Dena Woodard, Winnsboro, Evelyn Browning, Citra, FL, Mamie Conder, Irving, Corinne Tinney, Winnsboro and Theresa Harbuck, Quitman; brother: Jon Dee Matheson, Anahuac, TX.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Matheson, Ronnie Huddleston, Matthew Collins, Caleb Click, SSG Dakota Hubbard and PFC Nathan Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers were members of Flora Masonic Lodge.
