Katie Sue Cathey Liles, 84, of Quitman passed away on Saturday, June 8th. Katie Sue was born in Quitman to Gordon Russell and Achsah Cathey. She graduated from Quitman High School in 1946, and quickly became an irreplaceable asset to her hometown.

A committed mother and avid camper, Katie Sue was best known for her active civic lifestyle: she was instrumental in the building of the Carroll Greene Civic Center, and later became involved as a board member and volunteer for the Old Settler’s Reunion. She will be sorely missed by her son, Chris Liles; her daughter-in-law, Janey Liles; her grandson, Derek Liles; and many other close friends and relatives in Wood County.

Her soul goes on to reunite with her husband’s, James Christopher Liles, who preceded her in death. Memorial services for Katie Sue will be announced in the future. Her wishes stipulate that donations be made to local charities in lieu of flowers.
