Charles Larry Wilburn

Charles Larry Wilburn was born June 17, 1942, in Dallas.  He passed away October 14, 2014, in Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Leo and Juanita Wilburn; and an infant daughter, Laurie Lynn.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Bane Wilburn; son, Mitchell Wilburn and wife Shannon, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Susan Newhouse and husband Jim, of Rockwall; grandchildren, Jake and Ashton Wilburn, Natalie and Trey Newhouse; and sister, Donna Centner, of Arlington; and many cousins.

He was a Navy veteran stationed in Honolulu.  He was an educator as a teacher and principal in DISD and Quitman, then taught history at Tyler Junior College.  He served as president of the Quitman School Board and president of the Quitman Chamber of Commerce.

He was an avid golfer, loved reading, traveling and spending time with his fellow alumni of Bryan Adams High School.  He loved his log cabin in the woods of East Texas.

Interment will be in the Dallas National Cemetery.
