RACINE – Went to be with his mother on Sunday, January 21, 1996, at St. Mary’s Medical Center at the age of 35 years. He was born in Racine on June 26, 1960, to Patrick and Carol (nee: Gullickson) Mooney. Denis was united in marriage to the former Wendy M. Decker at First Church of God on October 27, 1984. He was currently employed at Gen-Tech as an operator of a Computerized CNC Machine Tool, where he had worked since 1982. Denis was a member of First Church of God and had served in the United States Army from 1979 until 1982. Surviving are his loving wife, Wendy; best friends, Steven Mooney and Stephanie Mooney, both at home; father, Patrick Mooney; one brother, Michael Mooney; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daniel (Evelyn) Decker; four brothers-in-law, David Decker, Darren (Erin) Decker, all of Racine, Daniel (Melissa) Decker of Columbus, Ohio, and Debbie (David “Mel”) Botsch of Racine. Also surviving are three nieces, Autumn Botsch, Lauren Botsch, and Courtney Decker; two nephews, Andrew Decker and Alex Decker; and a special friend, Kay Slaasted of Racine. Denis was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Mooney on April 14, 1974; twin daughters at birth; and a special uncle, Tom Mooney. Funeral services will be held at Strouf-Kniewal Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Wednesday evening, January 24, 1996, at 8 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Samuelson officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Denis may be given to the family.
