Elizabeth "Betty" Gene Beyke Saunders

Elizabeth “Betty” Gene Beyke Saunders died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 14th, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born January 29, 1957 in Virginia Beach, Betty moved to Florida and Raleigh with her parents, Gus and Gene.  She then moved to Greensboro where she studied education at Guilford College, met her husband, Tommy and established her family’s roots.

In a short 57 years, Betty’s impact has been profound and far-reaching as a teacher, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, mother and wife.

She taught for 23 years at Our Lady of Grace before her 10 years with the Middle College at GTCC.  Betty was never too busy to lend support to someone in need and was happiest in the company of family, especially her children and grandson.  If she wasn’t in the classroom or Greensboro, you could find Betty with her toes in the sand at her condo in N. Myrtle Beach.

Survivors include her husband, Tommy; son, Tommy (Jordan); daughter, Beyke (Jeremy);  and grandson, Cameron.
