Fred Durham Crisp, III, 65 of Raleigh, NC passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Freddie was born in Charlotte, NC on August 2, 1957 to Fred and Betty Crisp. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Virginia Beach. At the age of 13, his family relocated to Raleigh where Freddie would begin building friendships that would last a lifetime. He graduated from Millbrook High School and then went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for undergrad and dental school. Upon graduating, he moved back to Raleigh where he practiced dentistry for over 30 years.
On March 7, 1999, he was married to Martha “Mitch” Crisp and was a wonderful stepdad to Casey. Freddie and Mitch were married for 24 years. In 2019 he became “Doc” to granddaughter Harper, whom he loved to spend time with and was already passing along his handyman wisdom to her through outdoor play and activities.
Freddie was a man of great faith, which he lived out by serving as a deacon, elder, and commissioner of the youth basketball league at First Presbyterian Church. He joined others on many mission trips which included the Eden School in Bolivia. He loved playing golf and it was there that he again cultivated many more lifelong friendships. He loved sports cars, F1 racing, and anything UNC athletics.
He gave generously to others his whole life, and it is fitting that his last act was his greatest gift of all through organ donation. Freddie will be missed greatly by his family, his fraternity brothers, golf friends, church friends, and so many more.
Freddie is survived by his wife Mitch, daughter Casey (Paddy Finnen), granddaughter Harper, father Fred Crisp, Jr., sister Michele Narron, nephew Christopher Narron (Brooke), and niece Catherine Soto (Matt).
Freddie is preceded in death by his mother Betty Crisp.
The celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church at 112 S Salisbury St. in Raleigh. Bob Dunham will be officiating. Wake to follow at North Ridge Country Club from 2:00-4:00 pm.
