He was an avid football player for the Wildcats under Coach Hester and Coach Burleson. He was the owner of Waffle and Pancake House’s in Butner NC, Durham NC, Raleigh NC and Goldsboro NC. He left us way too soon at 40 yrs old. He is resting at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor NC.]
Obituary from News & Observer - David Wayne Jernigan, 40, resident of 1196-B Turner Road, died Thursday, Feb. 13th, 1997 at his home. A native of Wake County, the son of the late John O. Jernigan, was of the Baptist Faith and was owner and operator of D.J.'s Pancake and Waffle House in Creedmoor and Garner.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Don Brown. Burial in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Surviving: wife, Brenda Holloway Jernigan; daughter, Mitzi Blake of the home; mother and stepfather, Jean Gray and Bob Gray of Raleigh; sister, Pamela Jones of Raleigh.
