I just finished looking at the Reunion pictures for the 40th reunion and decided that I must be starting dementia! I saw Rosemary's mother and Milton and Larry's dads! I recognized some faces and some names but my memories are dim. I was devoted to the flute, organ, and the stage, and that's where my teenage memories dwell.
At any rate, I married at 21, and life has been a continuous whirlwind. Richard took jobs in Charleston, S. C., and Boston, as an engineer while I taught second grade. He decided he hated engineering and went back to State in architecture. I taught school in Raleigh and our daughter was born while he was still at N.C.State. Then we all moved to Scotland where he taught architecture. We traveled a lot either on a bus with students or in a VW van outfitted for camping. In retrospect, I guess we could have been considered Hippies, but were always gainfully employed. At any rate our love of traveling began way back then. After Sctoland we moved to Oxford, Ohio {Miami U.} where Richard was Head of the Graduate School and we had two more children. When he tired of that we moved to D.C. where we built a house and have stayed for 24 years. I went back to teaching at 40 in Arlington and retired after 25 years. We love traveling and have obviously spread it to our children. Our oldest daughter, Kristin, actually has lived on 3 continents and is moving back to Basal, Switzerland in 2 weeks. We're going on the QMll with her family since it will be our last visit with them until December. Alas, 3 of our grandsons will be moving too.
I spend my time with my grandkids, gardening, quilting, traveling, and volunteering at the Senior Center where my mom lives, and teaching an illiterate 45 year old Somalian woman to read and speak English. [Miss Penny would not approve of that sentence!] Life has been very good to us and I hope to catch up with my Past at the 50th Reunion.
I loved playing in the orchestra so much that I gave up my lunch period to do it because I had no time.
I still use P1-12 that I learned from Miss Penny's English class!

Hope you enjoy Salemtowne! We were there a few years ago while trying to entertain two grandsons. We all had a really fun time and found all the activities fun for all ages. So much had changed since we had visited with our own young children. I think you made a wise choice and love your new residence!

Loved seeing your pictures. Wondering where Brooks Falls is. Just got back from Iceland and would love to see your photos from that end of the world. Photography is a great hobby and you excell!

So sorry to hear about your mom's death. My mom died in November so they both held on for a long time. But I know what you're going through now. It's a lot of paper work, memories rushing by, and doors slamming shut on the finality of it all. Even though you expect it when it comes it's tough. Hope you are doing well and seeing lots of your extended family. I always envied your large happy family. Hugs,
Jane
That's an impressive chimney!
