WOW --- This really brings back a memory.

I sang at Jan's funeral -- with Mary Morrison ---- and I remember the tune and words to this day !!!!

He was so bright - and none of us imagined that there was any way to keep us all from growing up -- we were invinceable ! (did I spell that correctly???) I think of Barbara Jo Hayes when Jan's name comes up ! I value these memories .... because as I grew up and remembered his passing, his funeral was a milestone that reminded me that I was NOT promised tomorrow ....

Reading Laura's kind words reminds me of how special Jan (a/k/a Jumpin' Jack Flash) was to so many people. I was fortunate enough to have some wonderful years with him, thanks to the match-making of our dear Mary B. Morrison. She set Jan up to go visit me at Rex Hospital after I had some minor surgery in the summer of '70. I could have DIED when he walked into my room because I was definitely not looking that great. But in he walked with a gift - it was a type of tie-dyed drawing gizmo and I just fell in love with him. Our love was innocent and sincere. I didn't even mind getting in trouble with Mr. Goodmon when Jan sat next to me in class making faces. It was worth it!

I am still in contact with his mom, Ann, and his sis, Candace. To lose someone like Jan at such an early age is beyond comprehension but he will be forever in our hearts.
