School Story:
I loved school, especially math.. At Broughton, I had the pleasure of being taught by a few superb teachers.. And the displeasure of quite a few absolutely horrible teachers that I still talk about to this day. I was anything but popular.. My friends were in different grades or went to different schools. There are a couple of reasons I was just a nice guy, but couldn't make many friends. Firstly, My parents divorced in 1975 resulting in the following disconnected school history... K, and 1st grade at a school in Roanoke Rapids. 2nd and 3rd at Douglas Elem in Raleigh. 4th and 5th at E C Brooks Elem in Raleigh. 6th-8th at Chaloner Middle Sch in Roanoke Rapids. 9th and 10th at Broughton. 11th at Dortmund Stadtgymnasium. And lastly 12th back at Broughton. That meant there wasn't anyone at Broughton that I "grew up" with, etc.
Secondly, I was knew I was gay since 6th grade.. But no one else did. I couldn't share my real feelings with anyone, there was so much fear. I didn't act gay, so no one ever asked me if I was. Yes it was pretty lonely when I wasn't in school.. I remember just about everyone from Broughton and did enjoy those of you I got to know a little bit. OK after high school, things got much, much better.. I made tons of really close friends and met my partner/husband who I am still sitting next to today. We've been together over 25 years!!! Microsoft moved me out to Seattle where we lived about 20 years... I "retired" from the usual type of employment about 10 years ago. I do consulting work occasionally, but I mostly have been building robots and rovers.. I built a house mostly with just my two hands (and brain) and remodeled some others.. I've had a pretty good life, sure there are things I would like to have done differently, but as it stands now, I've got a great house, with land; a partner of 25 years; a 40ft RV; and I don't have to work. I'll post some pictures.. I wonder if anyone will ever read this..
