Hey Wildcats! Get Ready for our 50th Class Reunion!
Hard to believe it has been 50 years! We've been working hard to make this a special, memorable and affordable event. We are planning our weekend event on Sept 13-15 and want you to Save the Dates so you'll be able to join the celebration! Below you will find the details of our plans. We're still working on additional details. As we confirm more information we will update the details and you will be notified via email (as part of joining this site).
Friday- Sept 13
We are having a casual gathering on Friday evening. Our plan is to go to High Park Bar & Grill, 625 E Whitaker Mill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27608. We expect this to start around 5 PM in the far right side of the restaurant. Just tell the hostess you're there for the Millbrook Reunion and they'll guide you (if it's not obvious where we are. It will probably be where most of the noise is.) We plan to give out sticky name tags to help us identify one another. You only pay for what you order. Hopefully, we'll have nice weather so we can go to the outside patio and have plenty of time to locate and start reminiscing with old friends. We ask that you register here to help the management have appropriate wait staff on hand.
Saturday- Sept 14
For the MAIN EVENT on Saturday Evening, we have reserved:
Campbell Lodge in Durant Nature Park , 3237 Spottswood Street, Raleigh, NC on Saturday evening from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
The lodge is a beautiful historic structure in a gorgeous setting. This is an enclosed facility nestled in the park, so rain is not an issue. We will have the event catered, but you have to supply your own alcohol. Red wine and dark liquor are frowned upon because spills can damage the old wood floors and are not part of our alcohol permit. Please plan accordingly. (Sippy cups are highly reccommended). We will be catered by the Lemon Tree out of Wake Forest. They are very reasonable, deliver and take care of almost everything.
We will be charging $50 a head for this event. This is to cover Lodge rental, catering, permits, badges and other miscellaneous items. We may have to pay for an off duty police officer if we have over 150 attendees. So, please sign up and get your money in, so we can plan accurately. Parties are expensive, but we hope you will feel it is worth it!
We are asking that you make payments with checks rather than credit cards because they take 5.9% for each transaction. If you can only pay by credit card, please contact cindy.hopkins0956@gmail.com and we'll try to work something out.
To get correct directions to the Lodge be sure to put 3237 Spottswood St.,Raleigh, NC in your GPS so that it takes you to the correct entrance to the park. DO NOT try to get there from Durant Road, because you'll have to walk through the park a good distance to get to the Lodge!. Once you put in 3237 Spottswood St., you should be taken to Gresham Lake Road and then Wellborn St or Burwell Rd. Both take you to Spottswood St and the correct entrance to the park!
Sunday- Sept 15
Additionally, we're having an informal outside musical event on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday Afternoon from 3-7pm, Peak City Band which features our own, Kevin Kidd and Tom Josam, will be playing at Saints and Scholars, 909 Spring Forest Rd, Raleigh, NC.
Saints and Scholars is a friendly local restaurant that has good food and beverages and live music, both indoors and outdoors, so weather isn't a factor. Their hours are 11AM to 9PM, so you can plan lunch or dinner if you like, and stay as long as you are able for the music. The only cost is what you eat and drink.
Miscellaneous Info
That's the general rundown. If you need a place to stay please go to Where Can I Stay link. Be sure to get your reservation before August 13th!
You will be notified via email from Class Creator as we add details. Lookout for those messages.
How Can You Help?
Because we want to celebrate with as many of you as we can, we hope that each of you will look at the Missing Classmates link to see if you can help find anyone on that list. Please reach out to that person (and/or a family member of theirs) and share the link to this site with them. If they can't get registered, they can contact me, Cindy Maynard Hopkins (cindy.hopkins0956@gmail.com). Hopefully, when they see what they will be missing, they'll decide to join. It's been so much fun to hear the things that others remember that often jog our memories. It's also great getting to know the adult version of the classmate we used to know (or thought we did).
If you have any photos you can share from our time at Millbrook, please share them. You can send them to Frank Watkins' daughter-in-law at Wfsaga1@gmail.com. She has kindly agreed to put them in a slide show for us which we'll show at the Saturday night party. You can also post them on this site in the Photo Gallery.
Unfortunately, we have lost many of our classmates over the years. If you would like to see who those are, go to the In Memory link. You can add obituaries and comments there as well if you want to share a good memory of them.
Not a '74 Graduate?
We have been hearing from folks from other classes who are interested in attending. We would love to have you join us. In order to register you will need to contact one of the following people with your email and we'll add you as a guest. Then you can sign up and make your payment.

Looking forward to seeing you all!
Cheers,
