Regarding another scaled down reunion, sounds good. I would stay away from a banquet room. Too many people sitting. There are bar-restaurants with tall high top tables mixed with raised booths and a huge bar to order drinks. Kind of a Bistro atmoshphere. Keeps people moving around. I've been to several reunions from the high school I taught at, where people just came, bought their own food, drinks  if they wanted and just socialized. We might get people who didn't come in the Fall that might coodinate it with a Michigan vacation in the summer. With all the talk about mini reunions and getogethers, I will bring up a Michigan one when the committee meets at the beginning of the year. Party On!

The group who put the 50th reunion on did a fantastic job.  Even though it may have seemed daunting you shouldn't allow that to persuade you to diminish having the 55th.  I'll continue to work on locating those who are "missing" and updating information on those who have died.  Blessings to you all smiley

I just wanted to say, I went to see Last Vegas tonight, and having just been at our reunion and hanging with friends I have had for nearly 60 years I loved the movie. The critics were not real favorable, but I bet none of the critics are pushing 70. Worth an hour and a half of your time.

The entire weekend was a wonderful treat.  Like others, my fears were not realized, and I experienced many more great conversations than I ever thought possible.  The planning committee did a great job, and Pam's extra late party was a very unexpected bonus.  I wish I had been able to talk with more of those present, but I can say with confidence that all of you I did get to sit and talk with (much better for me than standing!) added a very special dimension to the weekend.  Who would have thought we would have so much in common, and be able and willing to share it, after 50 years.  Thanks to all.

Yes, I agree with Dave, we need another and it can be scaled down. I also agree with Sheila, moving around is much better.  I had such a great time on Friday night and Saturday at the tour, just having conversations with others.  Moving to tables and standing while other are seated is a bit harder.  I tried kneeling down and talking and that was great until it was time to get up. (I know, you know, what I mean.)  Linda, you are also right, it was easy to have a conversation with anyone. People were truly happy to see each other.

Attention THS '63 graduates  who are Florida residents or snowbirds!  Several of us were talking at the reunion about having a Florida get together this winter, probably in Feb or March, date and place to be determined by who responds.  If you would like to participate, or just be on the email list, send your name and email address to:

Cheryl Roebuck (Highstreet): highstreets2@yahoo.com

I'll keep a list and we can plan something from there!  I think this is a tribute to the larger reunion that so many of us want to do a repeat.

Hope to hear from you,

Cheryl

Cheryl, I think this is a wonderful idea.  I know several months ago there was a small gathering of our classmates in Arizona.  It would be immensely gratifying to discover that our big-deal reunion generated several mini-reunions in different locales.  If something does happen, please keep the rest of us informed and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Received the following email from Superintendent Galdes today.

David,

It was a pleasure for me to lead the tour.  I have been talking about the fun I had hosting the tour for the last two weeks. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you in the future.

GO EAGLES!!

Jan Carter Ziegler's great work continues even after the Reunion.  She has done an outstanding job of categotizing and editing the photos from the various parts of the Reunion.  As far as I can tell, pretty much everyone is represented in the pics---and they certainly caught the flavor of the weekend.  Thanks much, Jan!  Excellent!

I agree Stevie. Fantastic job Jan, and everyone who worked on the festivities. It couldn't have been better and, like a good concert, ended with you wanting more. I so enjoyed everyone I was able to talk with and just wish I had more time with you all. And, for any of the track guys who weren't able to make it to Jim Mollard's house for the mini-reunion with Bob Parks, it was another highlight of the weekend. He's still as sharp as a tack at 83 and hasn't changed a bit and, I must say, even got a bit emotional at the end. What a great guy and thanks to Jimmy and Karen for hosting it!

I just cancelled my membership with Classmates and going forward does anyone know if I can continue to use the Class Creator site in it's place?

As a side comment; getting together with everyone at our reunion took me back to my youth where life was simple and carefree. Those days helped to guide my life and they will be with me forever.

We are going to continue the classcreator site for 5 more years after that we may ask for donations.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.  As so many have expressed, the reunion weekend was an incredible experience  and just seemed too short.  There were so many conversations I wished I'd had or wished were longer.  I do hope that we manage to have informal get togethers in the future.  Thank you Cheryl for offering to coordinate us full and part time Florida folks.  In Detroit we woke up to the first coating of snow this morning - it will make the parade seem really festive.

Those of us who worked on the reunion are pleased that it all came together as we hoped and thank you for your thanks.  But know that we had a great time planning it and reconnecting with each other.  We had lots of laughs at our meetings!  In many ways its a let down that its over.

Time gives such perspective.  At this point we can appreciate that our years at Thurston were precious and gave us a good launch.  At Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for the good luck of growing up with you guys at THS.

Jan, I'm  glad  to hear that this site will continue for 5 years.  Please know that I will support the continuation of it as well. And Marilyn, I  couldn't have said it better. Happy Thanksgiving to all

Classmates:  It is with deep regret that I tell you of the loss of another member of our class.  After a long struggle with Congestive Heart Failure and COPD, Judy Hocking Hassell passed away yesterday (December 1st).  This news comes from her good friend, Carol Tabone Klim.  Carol has been Judy's caregiver for more than a year.  It was because of Judy's illness that neither she nor Carol were able join us for our reunion activities.  Our condolences go out to Carol, this is a tremendous loss for her.  And we send her our appreciation too for the loving kindness that she extended to Judy.

At Judy's request, there will be no viewing or services.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!   My wish for everyone is to have a Happy, Healthy New Year.  I'm hoping this year that I will recover from my sinus infection and cough that I've had since the reunion in October.  I'm sick of being sick!

I want to thank everyone for all the support we have had for our reunion and for keeping up with this web site.  During the next 5 years we will be able to keep intouch with each other on this site and post news of what is happening in our lives.

We who are on the committee will have our final meeting to finish up business left over from the reunion.  We will let you all know what we plan to do and other news that we might have.

Cheers,  Patti

Patti:

I'm sorry to hear that you're not up to full speed but I hope that you get healthy soon.

I hope that the entire Class of 1963 enjoys a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year as well.

And, thanks again to you and the Reunion Committee for dedicating your time and energy in putting on such a great 50th. Reunion,  I'm still talking to friends and family about the great time I had seeing classmates, sharing stories, memories and just having a fantastic time.

Sincerely,

Tom Tanner

I, too, want to wish everyone a Happy New Year.  We spent Christmas and New Year's Eve in Florida but are now home.  (Drove 18 hours yesterday and ended up in a snowstorm when we got to Toledo but we made it!)  The reunion was truly a great time and we enjoyed seeing everyone again.  I hope that we can all get together in the future.
