Lynne Hodges Obituary

Lynne Hodges
PALM SPRINGS
With heavy hearts, family and friends held the hand of Lynne Hodges at Eisenhower Medical Center as she passed unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on February 2, 1954 to Robert and Eileen Hodges, she was a sweet and loving person from the start.
From the beginning of her life until the end, Lynne gave her love, attention, and time selflessly. Lynne was someone who lived in the moment, never distracted or preoccupied by other things while she was with you. We are comforted as we remember how much she loved to have a good time, often explaining an experience or meal with us as "the best ever". Lynne loved hiking and fitness with her husband, Steve, reading, and spending time with her family. She was the type of grandmother who would get down on the floor to play with her precious grandchildren, letting them know in so many ways how much she loved them and how important they were to her.
Lynne was a graduate of Redlands High School and the University of Redlands. After raising her sons, she returned to school to receive her teaching credential from California State University, San Bernardino, and Master's Degree from Azusa Pacific University. She was a teacher and counselor in the Redlands Unified School District and Palm Springs Unified School District until she retired in 2012. She received teacher of the year awards in both school districts and students wrote letters to her long after graduation about how she guided them with support and generosity.
She is survived by her husband Steve Bell, her two sons Thomas and Patrick Maxwell, her two step sons Jon and Stephen Bell, her sister Lesley Downie, her brother Bob Hodges, her father Robert, and ten grandchildren, with one on the way.
Thomas Aquinas wrote, "There is nothing on the earth more to be prized than true friendship." Lynne was the embodiment of this type of friendship. Please join family and friends for a celebration of Lynne's life on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 1:00pm at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort, 1885 Golf Club Drive, Palm Springs, CA, 92264. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the organization which helps abused boys, Creative Change, 43585 Monterey Ave., #8, Palm Desert, CA 92360.
