I wasn't acquainted with Gene outside of school, but since our last names were close in the alphabet, he sat in front of me in a number of classes. He was always so nice. I just remember him having the kindest voice and way about him. I remember he & I sharing some laughs. I couldn't tell you what those laughs were about after all these years but I do know that I felt a loss when I learned of his passing many years ago.
