Thanks Lynnette, I appreciate the recipes! I have not thought about making banana pudding for a couple of years and now I have several delectable options. Maybe I will go so far as share some banana puddin' with some of my Yankee friends at a tailgate this year?!?

Hey everyone, does anybody know if that group picture of everyone from the reunion is out there somewhere to be e-mailed/downloaded? Thanks!

I have the picture if anyone wants me to email it to them, just shoot me an address to send it to. It's not the best, but it works.

Back from vacation...Hmm...what is so interesting about the newly-posted Amish pic of Teresa's daughter--Mikhayla--isn't the fact that she looks very PA-Dutch but that upon looking back, I first met Teresa at about 5th/6th grade once when her dad was speaking at the mennonite church on his Costa Rica missions--and I happened to visit with some mennonite friends--and Teresa and I hung out together in a class for several hours....Mikhayla is approx. the age I met Teresa. (How old are we???!!!) When Teresa ended up at Kish, I insisted I knew her somehow except I remembered long blonde hair; she insisted I couldn't have known her bc she grew up in Costa Rica...and then I remembered how I knew her. Small world considering I was probably only in a mennonite church twice ever.

Hey all...I prayed for you today from Proverbs 15:1, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." May you be blessed in your relationships today in the area of communication...especially those of you with teenagers and adult kids (ack!). I pray that your conversations will be productive ones that lead to greater understanding and appreciation of each other, whether it be with kids, significant others, parents, or employers.

It was good to see everyone at the reunion and to be able to catch up (some of the people I hadn't seen since graduation). I'm also glad to see the number of people who have been using this web site to show us their families (thanks Angie !!). For those of you who live out of town or out of state (and even those of you who live close by that I don't see often), if you're in the area, give me a call and I'll try to make time to get together. Take care!
Brian

Hi Everyone--for those who I owe emails to, I haven't forgotten!!! I will write again soon! It is so good to hear from old friends! My 'summer bum' award ends this Wednesday, and then you might think I've fallen into a black hole in space until I get situated with my fall schedule around here! But...before that, tomorrow Emm and I are going to the beach to see Angie T. and her family who is down here! Yea! Then Wednesday, school starts up bright and early! So we'll enjoy our last day off with PA friends..a good way to wrap up summer with all the fun of communicating again with everyone over the summer!

Yea! I did get to see Ang and her family at the beach on Tuesday!!!! It was a great day despite us only having from about 11:30 to 6:30....not enough time! I couldn't go the day before, and then the next day, Emmitt had to start school! But it was so great to see them!...doesn't seem like it has been that long nor that we are strangers to the kids really...we all chatted and chatted as if it was yesterday we saw them! ..so wonderful!

I'm trying to add another page to the site, but can't figure out how to upload pictures to it. I'll keep messing with it and let you know when it's ready.
Thanks!

I will be picking up the WORK dvd's tomorrow from Mr. Baylor. I'll mail them or meet up with you to deliver them.
Sorry I didn't get them sooner, I avoided going to school until I HAD to.

It's been seven years since I saw Lynnette...too long! But like she said, it was like it was yesterday and we never missed a beat. Reunion at Myrtle Beach next summer, who wants to go along? SERIOUSLY!!! Thanks Lynnette and Emmitt for making the drive, we ALL LOVED THE VISIT!

Lynnette and I are exactly that way! I hated not seeing what was around me and Lynnette stepped on several "unknowns"! The sun, a blanket, and a book and I'm set! Those darn kids won't let "whimpy mom" alone and bug me until I go out in the water with them. I wasn't like that before...getting more whimpy in my old age!

No kidding! When did we start to act like old ladies? The boys and I were at Wildwood last weekend and the only time I got in the water above my knees was when I couldn't get their attention by waving my arms from the edge. I LOVE the beach - the breeze, the sound of the waves, the sun shining on the water, but I don't enjoy the waves knocking me senseless like I used to. Salt water up the nose (and wherever else)......no thanks.

If y'all want a really wild time, you can come to my place for a hurricane party next week :)

08/29/08 08:38 AM #28

Lynnette Gerhart (Carden)

Oh gee....that is a great idea?!?!!?...go to Bill's for a hurricane party and stand in the gulf too while at it so that we can step on fish and gators all trying to escape the hurricane. yea...you'd see spastic old ladies out of us for sure. Fabulous idea?
Yes, I'm an old lady....after going to Stingray City and getting shoved around by a very very very large ray,and also hear how a friend got stung AT MYRTLE BEACH by a teeny ray while walking through the shallow-ankle deep water......and Crocodile Hunter getting stung..and my boys watching Shark Week all the time even while on vacation at the beach....yeah..you bet I don't like things bumping me in the water...so, I'll take the 'old lady' status of AngY!

And no, I don't want to go to a hurricane party, BILL!
Now, I'm on here to harass Wendy M. this morning to get pics posted...will someone PLEASE go to her house and take a pic of her and her kids???? Vicki? Cheryl? Give Wendy an 8pm appt. please!....Bill, maybe you can use that as a reason to evacuate northward...please evacuate to PA and go take pics at Wendy M.'s house....yes, hurricane evacuation party at Wendy M's...she just doesn't know it yet.

Seriously...thinking of you all down there in LA.

Bill, I was thinking of you and your family - take care!
Brian Reed too. Everyone keep them in your prayers.

Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. Katrina has definitely changed the mindset around here in regards to hurricanes. I've been in Baton Rouge for two of the worst hurricanes that have come by here (Andrew in 1992, and Katrina in 2005).

It is amazing to see the awesome forces behind a hurricane and it is pretty serious business. Baton Rouge is usually far enough inland that we don't get much of the flooding that goes along with hurricanes. High winds, debris, and tornadoes (I have never seen or experienced a tornodo yet so those are rare) are the worst things to worry about. Interstates into New Orleans will close tomorrow evening so that all lanes can be used for people to evacuate. My youngest brother and his family will be staying with us so at least I'll have some deck hands to batten down the hatches if necessary.

Now Lynnette, you might be on to something there. Usually, when we look to have a hurricane party, you go down to the gulf, however, having a party further away from the hurricane may be a great idea.

At some point, I will have to post some post-Katrina pictures I took of my mother's house (she lost her house due to flooding), and the area that I lived in when I moved here. Those are some pretty devastating pictures.

Tere, thanks for the offer, however, we are providing refuge to some of our other family members that are evacuating out of New Orleans.

We have to make sure to get in touch with you the next time we go to Atlanta. We love Atlanta! The World of Coca Cola, Underground Atlanta, Six Flags, etc.

Well, let the party begin. Louisiana is now starting to see some of the outer bands of Gustav. We just had a thunderstorm blow by that seemed to have just missed us. Throughout the day, we have had periods of breezes and periods of just calm.

Baton Rouge will probably start to get some more wind and the beginning of rain toward the middle of the night tonight. I will try to keep everyone posted on how things are going here.

After this is done, I'm sure we'll have to turn our attention to Lynnette and Paul in S.C (I'm not sure how close to the coast they live), and those in Florida as Hurricane Hannah seems to be going to head their way.

We started getting the tropical storm force winds overnight. As of now, they seem to be pretty steady with some strong gusts here and there. We just had the electricity go out, but it came back on fairly quickly. So hopefully, we can keep our electricity as long as possible. Otherwise, everything is still going fine.

Hey Bill,
What's the latest there in B-R?

Bill,
thinking of you and your family and hope you are all safe and well. saw on CNN pictures of the storm going through and it looks devestating. we used to live in Alexandria, LA - never got much of the hurricanes, just a lot of rain. keep us all posted and stay safe!

Tere - let me know what time and place you were thinking of dinner - i'm another that needs no excuse not to cook!!!

Hi Tere,

My boys and I ate at Bing's diner a few weeks ago; it is a 50's-type diner in Burnham. ( I think they owe Michelle Griffith some sort of compensation for using her nickname.) We really liked it and it is very CLEAN. Of course, there are always the local OIP's as well, which may be cheaper.
I'm not up on my geography and am too lazy to look at a map, so how far inland is Atlanta? Are you at all threatened by Hurricane Hannah?

Take care,
Angie
