Hi Everyone!

I'm in for the 1st of Nov! Sounds fun! I guess there's a get-together also on Sept. 13 at JP's for all who can come. Bing and Cheryl I know are going. I have a softball picnic that day, but I will go as soon as I can. No time has been set yet, just let us know if you can come and pass the word around. We'll save you a seat.
Looking at all of these pictures of your families, I think we all out did ourselves! You all look great! I love looking at them and showing my own kids the friends I still have from over 20 years ago.
Hope to see you all soon! Take care with all of the weather madness going around.

Love ya!

Wow that was a wild hurricane party. Gustav was one mean S.O.B. Right now, I'm back up with generator power. Shortly after my last post, we lost power for good, and that is when the fun really began.

I'm telling you that was some scary #%^@. I thought Andrew and Katrina were bad, but I'll tell you that I don't think I've been as scared during a hurricane as I was on this one. We ended up on the NorthEast quadrant of the hurricane which is the worst part to be in. If I really thought it was going to come that close to us like that, I might have taken Tere's invitation more seriously.

In the end, I had one neighbor's tree come through our fence, another neighbors tree came down on my house and severed the electric and phone lines to the house and did some roof damage and crushed my sister-in-laws car, and I had my chimney blown off. The chimney part ended up with me and my brother on top of the roof in hurricane winds and rain trying to put a tarp over the hole to stop the water damage to the interior of the house.

Now, we are just sitting around without electricity (and I could be without electricity for another week or two it looks like) so I have a generator now that I can run at night and during parts of the day to make the house livable under the circumstances. I must say that my daughter has been a real trooper. I'll have to be sure to treat her to something good when everything gets back to normal. My wife is saying that she's been a real trooper too (maybe I'll treat her to something special later on (Sorry, I'll try to keep this rated G)) I've also been just cleaning up the yard, and burning the tree that fell on the house and car.

Brian Reed is also doing well. I know he is without electricity as well. Baton Rouge really took a beating. They have already said this is the worst hurricane to hit here. So now I've been through 4 of the worst 5 hurricanes to hit Louisiana. I don't care to see anymore for a long, long time.

Well, I better get going. There is plenty of things to get prepared around here. I'll try to keep everyone posted as we go along.

Also, if you all get together at the OIP, be sure to eat a slice for Ayde, she loves that place everytime we visit PA.

I just put up some pictures in my profile of the damage to my property from Hurricane Gustav. All I have to say is that Hurricane Ike better stay away from here.

As an added update, my neighborhood has its power back, however, I don't. The electric company disconnected my down lines in order to bring up the neighborhood. I have no estimated time of when my electricity will be reconnected to the house. In the meantime, I just continue to use the more expensive alternative (gas generator).

I just got power restored back to my house this morning. So for now, everything is back to normal except for fixing the damage to my house, minivan, and fence. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this time. I sure hope we don't have anybody who is in the path of Ike.

Hi Everyone!

Glad to hear things are 'somewhat' back in order for you, Bill! (I've been swamped and it looks like Ike hit the inside of my house, but I have no excuse ((other than exams keeping me behind.)) I can't believe those huge trees fell....ugh.

I just added a newslink to my profile page...it will show you how old my 2nd child is to show how we all AREN'T 17 yr. old seniors in high school anymore!(really?...but I don't feel like I'm 37!!!!)
Anyway, look where there I posted in writing the WLTX link, cut and paste it, and wait for the actual video interview of Anthony to load. It is cute. He is shy and refuses to watch it yet. : )

Lynnette,

I know that has to be a very proud moment for you as a parent to see you child excel academically and athletically. He definitely seems to be a humble guy.

Anyway, if he happens to come LSU's way, we'll take care of him here for you. :) Geaux Tigers!

By the way, the recovery process has been a little slow. We finally got the front yard cleared out. I got the chimney off of the roof for now, and one of those noticable blue tarps up on the roof. I also got the parts in for the minivan and replaced them myself so big savings there. I ordered the parts online for less than 1/2 the price of the local stores, and since I could install them myself, I pocket all the labor. I wish I could say the same thing about replacing the roof of the house, but I know my luck will have me falling off the roof and costing me more than just paying the pro's to do it. I just have to get some quotes to see what's the best deal.

Hey everyone, in case you see this in time before I update, there was a bit of creepiness in my neck of the woods...literally...check out my site if you're interested:

Hey again, another interesting thing happened - I was at the Mount Holly Sheetz yesterday afternoon and discovered the manager is Rich Berich, who graduated the year before us! I was wearing the commemorative Kish sweatshirt my mom got me a few years ago and he picked up on it.

(craziness)

Of course, many of you all may remember Rich Berich as the son of our gym coach.

Interesting story Henry, you might want to stop by your local military surplus store and pick up a flak jacket or better yet a bullet proof one if you can find one.

Well, I've had people joke about the cornfield that's literally just past my front and back yards - you know, the whole "Children of the Corn" thing - but little did I know, right?

And the whole thing with running into Rich again - and not recognizing him - is further proof of just how much people can change in 20 years (yikes).

Have a good one, everyone!

Okay, Henry,I really hated that movie growing up bc of the corn field through the woods behind my house. I refuse to watch scary movies now too. The last 2 I watched were "Signs" (the crop sign one) and, gee,...don't know what it was called...the one with Will Smith and the 'end of the world due to the virus thing.' (and watched it only bc Samantha said it was cool, and she knows when I'll absolutely hate a movie.)

Here's a scary thought.....last week at 5th Quarter after the football game, it was 80s week. I thought, "How odd." Other than the fact that a bunch of 80s music is popular now due to the Guitar Hero stuff, I thought it seemed odd....+ I despise most 80s music anyway. So, they played 80s music the whole night there...but at least it was early early 80s music and not the 'crap' I call 'crap' that we listened to in high school ...and I found myself thinking "why didn't they make it 60s night instead of 80s night." ...duh....now think about this ya'lll.. When it was 1985, we found it cool to do 60s themes like the "At the Hop" type themes....and we thought that was old music...(see where I'm going with this?) and so here we are in 2008...back up 20 to 25 years and what do you get? OLD OLDIES 80s music.....cough cough cough. But hey, we had like 600 kids last week at 5th Quarter--topping our usual # and so that was 600 kids not running around on the streets after a high school football game.

It is scary to consider the music we listened to as "Oldies." One of my favorite channels is WCHX in Burnham, and I still can't get used to "classic rock" being what we listened to. I can remember when I was younger I liked listening to my dad's records from the 60's and that being considered oldies/classic. Just another sign we are getting older (GROAN)!!!!

Angela Treaster (Bubb)

I love 80's music! Not that the old stuff (60's) is bad, but "Hair Nation" on satellite radio is what I listen to and WMRF 80's at 8:00 on Saturday night. "Livin' On a Prayer" is my cell phone ring! Brings back good memories for me.

How is everyone? I have been so busy with work that I don't get to log on much. This website had been having problems b/c there has been such an overwhelming response to it that they couldn't expand it fast enough. I've been getting emails from them apologizing for the delay and mess. I have a letter to mail out to those we don't have email addresses for, but haven't mailed them yet! Sorry! I feel like I eat, sleep, and live SCHOOL WORK! I know why women a long time ago who were teachers weren't allowed to marry and have children...b/c teaching takes up so much of your time you can't have another life w/out going nuts! Sorry, I love my job, but the paperwork and obligations gets harder and harder each year.

My email address has changed, but I haven't put it on here yet...it's angela_dee_2@hotmail.com. Gotta do that now.

Take care everyone!

We are products of the 80's. This past Sunday we had our first newborn Jersey calf; it was a bull, but it is so cute we are keeping it for a while just to play with it. (Yes, I said we are playing with a calf. It just looks like a deer - all brown with big black eyes and lashes.) It runs around the yard and kicks up its heels and tries to snort in a ferocious manor. ANYWAY, I named it Bon Jovi.......what else would you name a Jersey boy? I'll try to post a photo later.

I know I'm definitely going! I've never been there either but am definitely up to trying something new.

Does it seem to anybody else that this year is just not slowing down at all? It's almost November already!

I think that movie you were talking about, Lynnette, was "I Am Legend" and I never got to see it...the reviews were mixed anyhow and, as I'm always on the go, I usually don't have time to watch movies at all. I don't even have cable! I liked "Iron Man" though.

80s music...yeah, Brian is right, that's scary it's being considered "classic" rock now...and yeah, some of it was dreck, but it was *our* dreck (grin)! What's even more scary is that I keep catching myself hearing Bruce Springsteen and John Cougar Mellencamp on the satellite radio at work and wondering which they are at any given moment. Now *that's* being old! ;)

What else shows you're getting old? Being up this early because you can't get back to sleep! I know I'm working graveyard shift right now but I really wanted to get a lot done today - well, that's what coffee's for...

Can't wait to see everybody on Saturday!

(What a hoot of a name for your bull, Angie - or should I say, what a "moo" of a name???)

Okay people. I just emailed AngieY back. I basically implied to her that her poor calf is going to be forever warped with a name like that. :P Sorry.

I DENY I am a product of the 80s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya'll go out and visit TereSA while she is there!!!!

I'm hoping to be at Bing's on Saturday with my boys (my wife won't be coming because she is getting ready for a craft show next week). I am working day light at the hospital, but am fighting a nasty case of viral bronchitis at the moment. I'm looking forward to being there, but don't want to polute half of Mifflin County (LOL).

Do you all realize that the last time the Phillies won the World Series, we were in 5th grade? Ouch!

Hey all! I haven't been at the computer much as of late, but I'm glad I decided to log on today! Bing's huh? Chuck and I usually hit Bings every other Thursday or so ( the girls go to their dad's house on Thursdays). Seeing as I have rows and rows of "candy corn" cookies lining every counter and table in my kitchen, maybe we'll see you there! I can't stay though. My sister Amy, her husband Chris (Hampton) and my niece Madalyn will be stopping in to get their Halloween cookies around 5:00. Yes, they ALL get treats! You all are welcome to stop in and gets some treats yourself. I live on Indian Lane in Yeagertown- on the left beside Fike Bros. carpet if you are heading toward Reedsville. My house is the big gray one on the left, the side with the porch, and orange lights strung across the banister. Hope to see you!
P.S.- The Bing Burger & fries is our fave!

Just thought I'd pop on quick and say that it was great seeing everyone at Bing's that could go! Have a safe trip back, Tere and Chuck (and family)!

Hi guys....love the pics from the mini-reunion..that is a cute pic too of Tere and Chuck in there! Looks like Chuck feels at home and is ready to move to the valley, ay TereSA? : )

Teresa..you have to email me to let me know how your ministry went today at your parents' church. I don't know what time you had to speak on their behalf, but at about 9:30 I was sitting in church and it was prayertime and I found myself thinking, "ooh, I wonder if Tere is speaking yet"...said a prayer for you again like you asked. Then, our pastor ended up doing a wonderful sermon on Matthew 25 and how he looks back and thinks he needs to preach more on servings/ missions as in Math.25...He used the end of Schindler's list as an additional life application where Schindler berrated himself for not trying to save just one more Jew from the Nazis. So anyway, I'm sitting there through it all thinking how your dad played a defining moment in my life too when I heard him speak, and it stuck with me through the years even though I didn't know you all at all when I first heard him speak. Kind of cool for today, ay?

It was great to get to meet Tere's and Angie T's husbands and families and to catch up. My sons hit it off with Tere's kids (who knew burping could be a form of male bonding ;-) ). I hope we can try to make it a regular thing to get together in small groups instead of waiting for 5 years to see one another.

Brian might be on to something there with little get togethers now-and-then. It is obvious that this site seems to have facilitated a few of those quite nicely already. Thanks again, Angie, for getting this thing going.

I'm starting to get settled back in after a fairly hectic September and October. We finally got our roof replaced, and it looks very good. Now, I just have to get out there one weekend and start painting, and I still have to get our fence straightened out. We also just got back from a wedding in Mexico. I have posted some pictures of Arianna at the event. And for the best news, Ayde passed her citizenship test (questions, comprehension, and writing) so now she is waiting on a date to get sworn in as a citizen and that will finally be all behind us. Believe me, she was a nervous wreck for the two weeks heading into the exam so I am definitely glad that is over.

That's enough of an update for now. I'll definitely have to work on making a trip up there sometime to get into some of the reunion action.

Take care everyone.
