Yes, congrats to Bill's wife. A woman from our church got her citizenship earlier this year (she's from Germany) and every time I see her she is grinning from ear to ear.

Same goes here when it comes to congrats for Bill's wife - that's great!

And if you guys do come up for Christmas and have a party at the cabin, Tere, I'm there. And Brian is right, we definitely need to keep it up when it comes to getting together!

I would also like to take a minute to recognize how great all you parents that came to Bing's are - your kids are what *all* kids need to be like, but sadly, most parents don't have the skills you guys do. I often wonder if that's because of the way we grew up. In any case, just giving credit where credit is due. :)

Take care!
Henry

I just got back on...saw the new pics on Ang's website of all your kids!...good pics..looks like fun seeing all of them together!!

Super for your wife, Bill. Sometime I will email you all as I could use her advice for some families in our church.

We are planning on being up there before New Year's...don't know the exact 'schedule' but would love to try to maybe get together like the 30th-ish figuring the 27th is driving, 28th at one house, 29th at another, and then a day to chill and add in extra visits, and then whatever. We'll be bringing an additional person to my family's house to stay for the holiday...cough cough cough we pick up Sam's boyfriend at BWI on our way up..cough cough cough new gray hair cough

Awesome - let me know when you know for sure, and if you want to get together somewhere, I'm there.

Also throwing in my congrats to Bill's wife!! That's great!
Yes, Lynette - let us know if you're coming through, it would be great to see you!

In honor of Veteran's Day ...to all service members, veterans, (Paul)....do we know if there are any other Veterans from our class, AngT??? I thought that'd be a good thing to ask on here to find out about our class.

Thank you Lynnette. I watched the video. If there is one thing that I remember very vividly about my tour in Desert Storm was our trip home. Just as our flight was about to land in North Carolina from Saudi Arabia, the flight crew played the National Anthem and showed a video on the screen. Everyone in our company stood at attention during the anthem, and I just remember seeing the American flag and realizing how much that flag stands for. It was no longer a piece of cloth with some stars and stripes on it. It just takes on a whole different meaning when you come back from a situation where you could have died for this country.

My time in Desert Storm was short. We were there for six months. That is a very short time compared to the amount of time most soldiers are serving in Afghanistan and Iraq now, but it was long enough to realize just how great this country is, and how lucky we are to enjoy the type of life we live.

Happy Veterans' Day and God Bless America!

Tere (and any one else who would be so nice), I have a MAJOR prayer request. I found out last night there will be a more pernanet position opening at the hospital that would allow me to go back to a more normal life. The problem is that the person who is leaving told me our boss may offer the position to a nurse, but the nurses aren't big on that. I have been waiting for 2 years, working at times 7 days a week, and I am hoping and praying that the job will be posted as a Counselor position and I can be considered for it. I will keep everyone updated.

Lynette,
I know Jonathan Marchese was/or still may be in the Marines. Last time I caught wind of his whereabouts, he was in CA.
Brian - I'll add you to our prayer chain. I hope you get the job!

Honestly, I don't know of anyone else that was in the military from our class? Thank you Paul and Bill for all that you do and have done for our country! Your families deserve a big round of applause also. I'm not technically an "Army Brat", we were lucky we never had to move around, but my dad worked long hours and did his tour when I was a baby. After 20 years he retired and I'm very proud of him and all of the men and women who served. My cousin is on her 6th tour in Iraq now. Pray for her safety and the others who are there. I taught "Veterans Day" to my students yesterday as I do every year. They need to know the importance of this holiday (even though they were upset we didn't have off of school!).

Praying for you Brian. I know you've been working long hours and deserve this break!

Finally, I sent the list to Angie Y. today to get a mailing out to those email addresses we don't have. Now we'll hopefully get to hear from the rest of our friends from Kish '88!

Anyone that lives in the south...I'm ready to fly! It's too cold for me up here!

Okay...super feedback. Thanks. Mark was in the Army too for a few years...speaking of him, we haven't heard from him in a long time...he used to call Paul once in a while but I seem to recall he'd call from someone else's phone as at one time he didn't have a phone # for us to call him or something.

Yeah Bill, so many people are just so happy to get back on US land. Some wonder why they kiss the ground and say "Thank you God" when they get back...sounds like you totally know. :) Shoot...were you in Riyadh?

Lynnette Gerhart (Carden)

Brian...added a prayer for you. I hope the job works out the way God wants it to for you.
Tere...added a prayer for you...why? bc I was thinking maybe you are supposed to be in Atlanta. A youth leader and I were discussing tonight at church about how Saudi deployed a bunch of 'missionaries' to Atlanta last year or so...maybe you are supposed to be there bc they--the Saudis-- will need your Christian witness.

Ang...sorry, once an army brat, always an army brat. You don't lose the title bc it stays with you. :)

Brian, I will be sure to pray for you as well. I hope you get the job.

Lynnette, my unit landed in Al Jubayl, which is a port along the Persian Gulf. It was about 120 miles from the Kuwait border. Just before the push on the ground occurred, my unit was living in holes we dug about 20 miles from the Kuwait border.

Angie, be sure to tell your Dad that I thank him for his service as well.

Looking back, dad must've been so preoccupied to recruit my boyfriends to get them out of town that he missed my classmates! Three of my 'formers' were recruited by him! =) No wonder I had such back luck with men...they ran before dad put combat boots on them!

Now I know what I must do to Arianna's boyfriends in the future. :)

Happy Birthday to Brian Reed!!

Just an update to my job situation--there is a meeting scheduled tomorrow (Tuesday 11/18/08 around 2:45pm) to discuss the position at the hospital (I wish I could be there but I will be out around Pittsburgh or on my way back by then). It sounds like it could go either way as far as whether it stays as a counselor position or is changed to a nursing position. I am also putting the cart before the proverbial horse in thinking that I will even be offered the position, but it sounds like I have support from other staff members. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers and I will let you know later in the week once I know something.

Okay Brian...just checking into the forum to see if your day went well with news? I'm a little swamped with research stuff right now and can't keep up...but said a prayer for you!

Hi everyone!
Thanks Ang Y for sending the letters out...looks like people are getting them and signing on!
Question...what do you think about adding faculty members as "Guest Members" to the site? (Like Mrs. Manbeck, Mr. Rhodes, Dr. Czerniakowski...)
Let me know. It came up as an idea on the main site page.
Thanks!

Okay...wow...nothing like knowing you're out of the loop when you log in to the reunion site and see a BILLION posts!

(Okay, maybe not a *billion*, but still, a lot!)

Tani - I am off Monday and Tuesday next week - I'll call you soon and see if either of those days works for you.

Tere - Got your mom's card, if you talk to her before I do, tell her I said "thanks" and that I hope she's still continuing to do well.

Lynnette - Any more info about you all coming up?

Brian H. - Definitely have you in my thoughts regarding the job and hope for the best. Will be up over Thanksgiving weekend, if not sooner - will check and see if you're up for a cupper then.

Angie N. - I have to say that I don't agree with war, and find it even more troubling when the motives behind sending troops to any given locale aren't clear or are being questioned. However, I do believe that if force is needed in self-defense, it should (and often must) be used. Finally, I support those volunteers who are currently serving, regardless of whether I agree with the choice to send them overseas, simply because they are loyal enough to our country to have made the choice to do so. They are the *true* heroes. Which brings me to...

Bill W. - While it is true that there are those who have been serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan for longer than you served, it's not the length of service, but the fact that you stepped up and served that counts. Definitely something to be proud of!

Angie B. - The idea of a guest section for teachers sounds cool to me. Moreover, it would provide those of us who want to get in touch with our old mentors the same avenue it has for those who have already utilized the site.

Everyone - in case I don't get back on here beforehand - HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I agree with Henry both about the number of postings (I hadn't been on my computer since the beginning of the week) as well as allowing past teachers to have access to the site. It's nice to get on and see pictures of everyone and their families (and to see who has changed and who looks the same). I'm up for a mini-reunion over the holidays (as it stands now, I am working Christmas eve and the 26th at the hospital and depending on how things work out with that job, I will either be on vacation from the 24th to the 2nd from my full time job or taking a break until I start regular part time at the hospital --I hate waiting :-[!!!). Henry, I am off black Friday but work that weekend, so maybe we could get together on the 28. Take care all!

I'm up on the 20th and 21st for our family Christmas. Is anyone up for getting together on Saturday night (the 20th)?

11/24/08 04:37 PM #84

Henry Peachey

Joyce - I wish I was able to do something that weekend, but I have to work.

Brian H. - Friday looks good so far, I'll give you a call soon.

Tere - Okay, I was in "cow" mode when I posted this - I guess skimming over the messages reeeeeally reeeally quickly doesn't quite work for me, since I was wondering if you were coming up and just saw that you are! Anyhow, I will have to check my schedule and see which other days I'm off and maybe we can get together then. If not, I'm going to be seeing my sister in January in Florida so if I have enough time off then maybe I can drive over at some point.

Lynnette and Bill W. - that goes for you guys too!

Gotta run - going to hang out with Tani and her husband Rick in a little while - later!

Hello all... I am so glad to see that everyone is using the website to reconnect with one another. I must apologize for my lack of commitment to do the same, but my life has been pretty crazy the last two months. I have moved from Reedsville to Lititz, PA and have been busy getting squared away here. My sons moved with me, however, my youngest opted to move back with his father two weeks ago so that he could wrestle for Indian Valley. It broke my heart initially, but I have to give him room to fly and make those decisions, being 14 and all. My oldest has stayed with me, he likes his new school and has adjusted well, his grades have improved tremendously and he got his drivers permit!! YIKES, but he is doing well with it.

Please keep me posted on any and all future get-togethers. I am not far from Reedsville and get back there because of the kids going back and forth, so if we can make a Christmas party happen that would great.

Many thoughts and prayers out to you all. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I am thankful for Angie Neer contacting me, and getting me back in contact with my former classmates at Kish. I'm also thankful for everyone responsible for making this website happen.
