Hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving--we do it twice a year, once on Thanksgiving day at my wife's parents' home (with around 35-40 other people), then on Friday with my parents and sister and her family. I sat down with my kids yesterday afternoon and watched the WORK DVD and it was nice to look back at a more innocent, care-free time in in our lives (not to mention the BIG hair and mullets :-) !!!). My kids thought it was fun to watch the skits and kept asking who everyone was. Although it was fun, I do now regret not keeping in touch better with those people that I shared my life with and hope that with this site and the wonders of the "cyber age" I can try to do better at keeping in touch.

I agree with Brian H. about losing touch with fellow classmates...but, time has a funny way of working when it comes to interpersonal relationships. What's great, though, is that while it can cause people to drift apart, it can cause people to come back together again, as has been evidenced by this very website, along with our reunions and, of course, the hard work and dedication of those who have made it possible for us *to* get back in touch with each other.

In other news...I am happy to report that I will be heading south at the end of the year, but don't know if I'll be able to attend any get-togethers around that time due to possible schedule conflicts...keep me posted, and I'll let you know if I can make it...however, as I will be off from the 28th until the 13th of January (provided my vacation requests/shift trades are approved), I would like to know if anyone living down there would be willing/able to get together during that time. Tere? Lynnette? Bill W.?

I will most likely be spending New Year's Eve with my mom, stepdad, sister and brother-in-law in Vero Beach, Florida, and I have a trip to Alabama to make to see my aunt, along with a visit with some friends outside of Orlando. However, as I am driving down, I'd be happy to motor on to see anyone who would like to get together. Again, just let me know - either message me, post a reply here, or feel free to give me a call.

Have a great week, everyone!
Henry

PS Brian H. - I'll be up next Friday (the 12th) for the weekend - let me know if that works and we'll get that cupper yet.

Henry,

If you are down this way during that time frame, let me know. I'm sure we can hook up.

Bad news--I found out Friday (via e-mail >:-{ no less) that the job at the hospital is going to become a nursing position. But, I also found out Thursday from my supervisor that there will be a supervisory position opening at SAM, Inc. in January that I may be considered for (it is in a department I have 0 experience in but there may be no other candidates and my name has already been mentioned as a possibility). I guess one door closed (or was slammed in my face--sorry, sour grapes) but another one may be opening in something else I would want to do (supervisory). I will keep you updated.

Brian H. - sorry to hear about the job you were wanting turning out the way it did, but am keeping my fingers crossed (again) for you for down the road.

Tere - can't help you with the venison personally, since I'm a vegetarian, but I'll keep my ears open, and if I do find any, I'll make sure to get it to your mom and dad before you get here. By the way, I checked my schedule, and I definitely won't have a chance to get together when you get up again (sorry), but hope I can when I get down there. Still working on the details on that - I've got so many potential destinations, I'm having a hard time figuring out which would be the easiest route(s) for me to take.

Well, gotta run, my laptop battery's almost gone - take care everyone!

Cheers,
Henry

Well, the only nights I'm going to have off between now and Christmas are this Thursday night (the 18th) and Christmas Eve - I have to work the rest of the time or have plans until the 28th, which is when I leave for Florida.

Lynnette, Bill W., and Tere - sorry I haven't had a chance to call, but plan to after I log out here, before I go to work. If I don't get hold of you later this afternoon, I'll try tomorrow.

Hope to talk to you then!
Henry

okay...trying to just send out some brief email updates!
I'm not sure what is what yet over Christmas. Maybe the 30th I'm thinking? With having to visit both sides of the family, that'd give me 2 days to do that first. I think I have additional relatives arriving on the 31st at my parents'. So that is why I'm thinking the 30th? What does your schedule look like Ang? We have an extra guest on our roadtrip too that we pick up in Baltimore, so I'm not sure how things will play out yet with getting to both sides the family. I might have a better idea too as the dates gets closer...but I'm wondering when you all might be free for 2 hours or so on the 30th. ???

Some people really need to relog back in and post snowmen pics/ family pics/ kidpics/ dogpics/ catpics/ whatever that shows me what people are up to and like doing....speaking of which, Kristy D.--you are due for a new cake pic...got any good Christmas ones? : ) (And Kristie P...well, that reminds me I should go pester her again for her big-kid pics).

I hear Kristy D. makes good cakes if anyone needs one for any Christmas/ family/ work parties!!!

We just got back from Disney World this weekend, and this week we've been attending christmas parties for Arianna's school, music class, and dance class. I think I'm now able to settle down for a little bit heading into Christmas and New Years.

Henry, sorry I missed your call yesterday. I'll wait to hear from you before trying to call you back.

Lynnette, I will try to get some Disney pictures posted soon.

Tere - My friend from work did say she would talk to her husband to see what he wanted to keep as far as the venison went and then get back to me, but unfortunately, I've been swamped the last two days and didn't have a chance to get hold of her in time before going up to Mifflin County today. However, there is still Christmas Eve/Day left for me to get it to you (as I'll be up there then to see my mom and my dad), and I will see her at work tomorrow, so I'll message or call you the next morning when I get home to see what you'd like, and then bring it up next week.

Bill W. - As mentioned above, it's been crazy here - I will try and give you a call over the weekend before I go to work on one of those days.

Lynnette - Got your message, thanks - I had tried to reply, but the wi-fi connection at the Giant I go to had dropped, and I didn't have a chance to re-type it. I have an idea for a suggested itinerary below:

December 28-January 1, 2009 - Leave from PA and spend time with my sister/parents in Vero Beach, FL

January 2-3 - Leave from Vero Beach to Lakeland to visit some friends of mine there

January 4 - Leave from Lakeland to Mobile, AL to visit my uncle

January 5 - Leave Mobile for Prairieville to visit Bill W., Ayde and family (I know you'll likely be working, Bill, but even an evening would be awesome, as long as you're up for it)

January 6 - Leave Prairieville for Hanceville, AL to visit my aunt (provided she is in good health - she was in the hospital again and my mom and I are trying to find out how she is)

January 7 - Leave Hanceville for Buford to see Tere, Chuck and family

January 8 - Leave Buford for Lexington to see Lynnette, Paul and family

January 9 - Return to Vero Beach

January 10 - Leave from Vero for Key West

January 11 - Return to Vero Beach

January 12 - Leave for PA

Lynnette/Tere - I know there was an idea of all of us getting together in Buford, but if it makes life easier for Lynnette, Lexington is kind of on the way back to Vero anyway.

In any case, I took enough time off to make things somewhat flexible, so everyone let me know what you think or if there might be a better alternative (or alternatives).

Can't wait to see you all!
Henry

Henry,

January 5 should be good. Depending on what all is going on at work, I might be able to take the afternoon off at work. Sounds like you are embarking on a long voyage. :)

Here's wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am up for a get together over the holidays. I don't know what my schedule is yet at the hospital, but I know I am off from SAM starting Wednesday until after the new year. I am trying to plan a short trip for Lauri and me to celebrate the holidays and as a late 10th anniversary. If something gets set up, give me a call on my cell (717-513-8844) and I will try to make it.

Merry Christmas!

Hello to all! I didn't get Christmas cards out in the mail this year (yet?)so thought I'd leave a Christmas greeting here. Hopefully I'll get to bump into some of you over Christmas this year too!

I've enclosed a great little link in which I love the song...I love that the kids are singing this version of it as Jesus tells us to come to Him as little children. As I ponder a separate, different song out by Casting Crowns called "While You Were Sleeping", I'm reminded that Christmas is a time of watching and waiting and that some missed the 1st "Christmas" despite their search for the Messiah, yet some did find Him. For me, this Transiberian Orchestra's Christmas Canon link reminds me to 'not fall asleep and to not miss the real meaning of Christmas.'!!!

Copy and paste...It's not a 'youtube' brand link.

Here's a great video to watch...some of you may have already seen it. It makes me cry and have goose bumps when I watch it. My kids think I'm a 'nerd' because I love this video.

It's dedicated to all of you for what we thought we lost in friendships, to find that we can reunite and it was like we were never gone...

Well, I'm almost done packing and am getting ready to leave - just finishing up some last-minute road trip music...

Angie B. - Thanks for the well-wishing, I will definitely be taking a LOT of pictures and will post them during the trip when I have some free time and a wireless hotspot available.

Bill and Ayde, Tere and Chuck, and Lynnette and Paul - I can't wait to see you all! Thank you again for taking time out to visit with me, especially since the holidays themselves are always busy to begin with. I'll give you a call from my sister's place or where my mom and stepdad are staying when I get down there.

Take care everyone!
Henry

I updated my blog to reflect on the past year - if anybody is curious, just click on the link to my site in my profile. Nothing huge or overly profound, but there if anybody's interested.

Just a few more hours until 2009! Everyone have a safe night tonight!
