Venita Berg Lester 1923-1997

Funeral Services for Venita Lester, 74, Chamberlain, will be held Thursday, July, 31, 1997 at 10:00 am at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with the Reverend Marcia Cline officiating.  There will be a prayer service Wevik Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm.    Visitation will be from 1pm to 9pm on Wednesday and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.  Mrs. Lester died July 28, 1997, at Mid-Dakota Hospital.

Venita Berg was born Jan. 27, 1923 to Oliver and Martha (Nelson) Berg at Reliance.  She attended grade school and graduated high school in Reliance then attended college at Wessington Springs.

She married Adrian Lester October 20, 1941 at Blunt, SD.  They lived at Reliance for three years then moved to Chamberlain for five years. They moved to Kimball where they lived for 25 years.  In 1977, they returned to Chamberlain and have made their home here since.

She is survived by her husband, three sons: Douglas and wife, Judy, Kimball; Darwin, Chamberlain; Brent and wife Nancy Jo, Rapid City; two daughters: Nancy and husband, Emil Laurendeau, Mitchell,  and Jeannie and husband Tim Kubik, Mitchell; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
