
Ruth Husman Lester 1924-1996
Funeral Services for Ruth J. Lester, 71, Interior, will be held today, Thursday, February 15 at 2pm in the Interior School Gym with the Reverend Donald Lagge officiating. Mrs Lester passed away Friday, February 9, 1996 at the Harris P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Ruth J. Husman was born March 1, 1924, at Presho to George and Helen (Lloyd) Husman. She grew up in the Presho and Reliance areas, graduating from Reliance High School.
She married Duane 'Dewey' Lester November 6, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska.
After Dewey completed his military time in Germany, they made their home in Reliance, where he worked on the Milwaukee Railroad. In 1948 they moved to Creston and in 1950 they moved to Scenic, and were transferred to Interior in 1958. Ruth did domestic work, including ironing, babysitting and working in the Interior school lunch program. Later she worked as a waitress at Cactus Flatt and Cedar Pass Lodge, a position she held until 1992.
Ruth was very active in the Interior Presbyterian Church. She loved her hobbies of embroidering and working on jigsaw puzzles.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of Interior, four sons: Terry and wife Cheryl, of Wall, Tim andwife Peggy, of Austin, Texas, Kenneth and wife Lola, of Round Lake Beach, Illinois, and Kelly of Interior; two daughters: Memory and husband Marc Collins, of Rapid City, and Marcia and husband Jim Beckwith of Ft. Pierre; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Loyd Husman of Presho and Benjamin Husman of Mitchell; three sisters: Irene Wright, Aletha Buchanan, and Mildred King, all of Mitchell, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Internment will be in the Interior Cemetery.
Rush Funeral Home, Philip, is in charge of arrangements.
