Sharlene K. Huntsman  1943-2007  

Funeral services for Sharlene "Shar" K. Huntsman, 63, of Chamberlain were held Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 2pm at the Christ Episcopal Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Reliance Cemetery in Reliance.  Visitation was Tuesday from 10am to 12noon at the Hickey-Wevik Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

Sharlene K. Huntsman was born September 19, 1943 in Lyman County, South Dakota to Hobart and Lena (Hieb) Huntsman.  She attended grade school and graduated from Reliance High School in 1960. She next obtained her LPN Certificate in Alliance, NE. 

Shar was employed by Mid Dakota Hospital until downsizing in 2001 forced her early retirement.  She was an active community volunteer in the Chamberlain area despite her own health problems.  She volunteered many places including the nursing home in Chamberlain, and for the Chamberlain Hospice Program.  Shar travelled with family members on vacations, which included Italy, Germany, and a variety of states.  She had an assortment of bears bears was very proud of her collection.  She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and helped with a variety of fundraisers for the church.  Reading mystery books, especially ones with cats was some of Shar’s favorite past times.  

Shar passed on February 22, 2007  at the Sanford Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.  

She leaves behind her brother, Larry Huntsman and wife Mary Lue of Jasper, Minnesota, a sister in law, Bobbi Huntsman of Springfield, SD; several aunts; cousins, a niece, two nephews, four great-nephews and two great-nieces.  

Preceding her in death were her parents and an older brother, Darrell Huntsman.
