Lloyd George Husman, Sr.    May 20, 1926 - May 4 1997

Funeral services for LLoyd G. Husman Sr., 70, Presho, were held May 8 in the Lyman County Auditorium with the Rev. Wayne Tieszen officiating. Prayer service was held Wednesday in the United Methodist Church. Mr. Husman passed away Sunday, May 4, 1997, at his home in Presho.

Lloyd George Husman was born May 20, 1926 to George and Helen (Lloyd) Husman and started school in Presho. They moved to Reliance where he enjoyed playing sports and graduated fro Reliance High School in  1944.  After high school, Lloyd joined the United States Navy.

Nov 2, 1947, Lloyd married Tillie Burkhardt in Mitchell with his brother-in-law, Boyd Wright, performing the ceremony.

They lived in Reliance a few years before moving to a farm south of Reliance, then later lived in Fairfax and finally settled in Presho. Lloyd and Tillie purchased the Olson Grocery Store and renamed it Husman's Grocery, which is still in business today.

Lloyd loved children. He enjoyed watching kids in all activities and seldom missed a school event. He was honored twice for his lifew-long dedication and support of the students. He was truly honored with each of these awards. He was especially proud of all of his grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife; three sons: Junior and wife Kathy, Presho, and Lowell and his wife Maggie, and Lynn and his wife, Becky, all of Rapid City; one daughter, Linda Hoyt, Rapid City; one brother, Benny Husman, Mitchell; three sisters: Irene Wright,  Aletha Buchannan and Mildred (Mrs. Don) King, all of Mitchell; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Husman was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Ruth.

Burial was in the Presho City Cemetery.

Hoffmeister Chapels, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
