Myron Kindopp

   Myron L. Kindopp  7/18/1945-1/27/2010

Funeral services for Myron L. Kindopp, 64, of Watertown, formerly of Reliance, will be Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain.

Myron Leighton Kindopp was born July 18, 1945 to Orvin and Martha (Hieb) Kindopp at Chamberlain.  He attended Roosevelt Country School and Reliance High School where he graduated Valedictorian in 1963.  On July 3, 1965, Myron was united in marriage to Suzanne Halverson at Kennebec, SD.

Myron and Suzie made their home together on the homestead where Myron was raised.   Myron and Suzie welcomed their first son, Bryan, in 1966, a daughter, Kenda in 1972 and a son, Kelsey in 1974.   During his lifetime, Myron served his God and Trinity Lutheran Church in Reliance as president, vice-president, secretary and elder.   Myron’s community service included terms on the Board of Directors of Lutheran Social Services,  FmHA, Lyman County Ambulance, Kennebec Elevator, 4-H leader and was Bailey Township Treasurer at the time of his death.

Myron’s first and foremost passion was his wife, Suzie, and his family.  High school sweethearts, seven proms together, 44 years of marriage, three children and seven grandchildren are his legacy.

The Lord’s calling for Myron’s life work was farming and ranching.  Myron and Suzie farmed with Myron’s parents, Orvin and Martha, for over 40 years.  Myron exemplified the values of hard work and honesty.
Myron’s next passion was sports, especially anything his children or grandchildren were involved in.  Myron and Suzie were always a constant in the crowd.  His children’s college educations at SDSU brought him a new love, the SDSU Jackrabbits. Wherever the Jacks went, Myron and Suzie were not far behind.

Myron also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Although a fierce competitor, Myron always had the patience to teach the game.

Along his life’s journey, priceless friendships were established which he cherished.

Myron was called home by his Lord on January 22, 2010 after a 2½ year courageous battle against advanced prostate cancer.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Suzie of Watertown, SD; his mother Martha Kindopp of Chamberlain; two sons, Bryan Kindopp and wife Kay and children Alex, Archer, and Aleese of Watertown, Kelsey Kindopp and wife Carrie and children Brooke and Kerrigan of Dell Rapids; and daughter Kenda Falconer and husband David and children Evan and Miranda of Watertown.

Preceding him in death were his father Orvin on January 28, 2005 and his grandparents.
