Dera (Fields) Cahill-Sly

     Dera Lavon Sly, 78, Platte, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Platte Health Center, Platte, of cancer.
     Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Platte. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Platte. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at Mount Funeral Home, Platte. There will be 6:30 p.m. rosary and wake services today at the church.
     She was born on Dec. 13, 1931, in Reliance, to Charles and Bertha (Monson) Fields.
     She graduated from Reliance High School in 1949 and went to work as an operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Chamberlain.
     In 1953 she married Harold Cahill of Platte and in 1997 she married Kenneth Sly of Platte.
     She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and involved with her church, Relay for Life and the Red Hat Society.
     Dera is survived by her husband; four sons: Michael Cahill and wife Michelle, Berthoud, Colo.; Patrick Cahill and wife Denise, Loveland, Colo.; Barry Cahill and wife Debbie, Estes Park, Colo.; and Thomas Cahill, Denver, Colo.; three stepchildren; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Delora Lloyd, Delta, Colo.; Wanita Turner and husband Frank, Olathe, Kan.; and L. Adell Martin, Brighton, Colo.
     She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1991; a grandson; her parents; and a stepson, Dan.
