Funeral services for Ronald Dean Peterson, 60, Reliance. were at 2pm Wednesday, October 28, 1992, in the American Legion Hall, Reliance.  The Reverend James Towler officiated.
Burial was in Reliance Cemetery.     He died October 25 in the Vetrans Hospital, Sioux Falls.

Ronald Dean Peterson was born November 24, 1931, in Reliance to Lola (Fletcher) and Carl Arthur Peterson.  He attended country school five years before attending school in Reliance.  He graduated from Reliance High School in 1949.  He worked on the family ranch until entering the U.S. Army in 1955, serving until 1957.  Following his discharge he returned to the family ranch.

In 1967, he and seven other ranchers started the Medicine Creek Guest Ranch for children ages 9 to 16.  He was the clerk for the Reliance Township Board for 25 years.  He was a member of The Johnson-Peterson American Legion Post 179.

Survivors include two brothers, Lyle, of Lower Brule, and Roland of Reliance; four sisters: Minnie Brech of Philip, Eunice Dunne and Lois Schoenfelder, both of Kennebec, and Joyce Schaub of Chamberlain.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
