Eldalaine Parkening (Sattler) - Class Of 1926

Eldalane Parkening Sattler 1907-1978

Funeral Services for Eldlane Marie Sattler. 70, were held at 2pm Monday from the Reliance.  Methodist Church with the Reverend Eric Grinager and the Reverend William Kay officiating.  Burial was in the Reliance Cemetary.  Mrs. Sattler died Friday, January 20, 1978 at the Methodist Hospital in Mitchell.

Eldalane Parkening was born November 22, 1907, at Elkorn, Nebraska, to Amil and Bertha Parkening.  When she was five years old, the family moved to Canada for two years and then moved to Melvin, Iowa.  In 1919, they moved to Reliance and she lived there since that time.

She attended Northern State Teachers College at Aberdeen and taught school in Lyman County.

She was married to Henry Edward Sattler at Reliance June, 30, 1934.  Mr. Sattler preceded her in death on May 4th, 1965.  They operated the family grocery store in Reliance from 1934 to 1975.  Eldalane served as the HEAD START Director at both Ft. Thompson and Lower Brule in South Dakota.

Surviving relatives include her mother, Bertha Parkening, of Reliance; one son, Leighton Sattler, Cheverly, Maryland; one brother Evan Parkening, Sioux Falls, and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, husband, one brother, and one sister.
