Royal 'Babe' Cosgrove 1911-1989

Graveside rites for Royal Cosgrove, 77, a life long resident of Lyman County, were November 28th at the Reliance Cemetery.  The Reverend Bob Brown officiated.

He died November 26th in the Mid-Dakota Hospital.

Royal Cosgrove was born December 20, 1911, to Nettie (Humphreys) and Jay Cosgrove on a farm near Reliance.  He operated a grocery store for a short time and for the last 52 years had farmed and ranched south of Reliance.

Mr. Cosgrove married Naomi Ocheltree, who died in 1988.

Survivors include two sons, John and Lindy, both of Reliance;  four daughters: Marlys Swanson, Chamberlain, Corrine Wagaman, Puyallup, Washington, June Griffith, Mooreland, Oklahoma, and Ruth Ann McManus, Reliance; a brother, Merle of Washington; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and a great granddaughter.
