Alice Julia Eleeson-Berg July 1, 1911 - Feb 15 2000
Alice Julia Berg, 88, Winner, formerly Reliance, passed away Feb. 15, 2000, at the Winner Regional Nursing Home in Winner. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 18 at the United Methodist Church in Reliance. Burial was made in the Reliance Cemetery.
Alice was born July 1, 1911, in Oacoma to Edward and Julia (Jacobson) Eleeson. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom grew up on a farm outside Oacoma.
After graduating from Reliance High School with the Class of 1929, Alice received her teaching certificate from Black Hills State Teachers College in Spearfish. She taught eleentary school near Reliance for five years before marrying Oliver Norman Berg, also of Oacoma.
Alice and "Ole" lived in Reliance for a short time before farming and ranching near Reliance. In 1966, they returned to Reliance where they owned and operated Berg's Market until their retirement. Ole passed away in 1980.
Alice lived in Reliance until 1994, when she moved into the Winner nursing home.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and also a member of the Town and Country Club for many years.
