Gloria Diane Cahill, 60, Tukwila, WA passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2013 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

A Celebration of Gloria’s Life was on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, SD with Pastor Jake Jacobsen officiating.

She was born on July 11, 1952 in Platte, SD, the oldest child of Hugh and Nina (Moller) Wynia. Gloria attended first through fourth grade at Forbes #3 near Platte. In 1964 the family moved to a ranch near Lower Brule where she attended fifth through eighth grade at Black Dog School. She graduated from Reliance High School in 1970 and then attended National College of Business in Rapid City.

 She married Jerry Lester Cahill from Chamberlain, SD on January 21, 1973. During the early years of their marriage they lived in Brookings, SD and later moved to Minneapolis, MN. They had two children, Jeremy, born in 1973 and Angela, born in 1976. In 1979 Gloria began a 30 year career as a Contracting Officer with the Department of Veterans Affairs, living in many different places including Sturgis, SD, Hot Springs, SD, Boise, ID, Rapid City, SD and Salt Lake City, UT. They moved to Seattle in 1993 where she retired in 2009.

Gloria was a very kind and gentle person who will be remembered for her generosity and love and acceptance of all people. Her dependability and complex problem-solving abilities earned the respect and admiration of her co-workers. Spending time with her family was the thing she enjoyed most and she was a wonderful wife and mother. Other favorite pastimes included traveling, gardening, bird watching, reading, walking, attending Seattle Storm basketball games, and solving any kind of puzzle. She also supported many charities.

 Survivors include her husband Jerry of Tukwila, WA, her son Jeremy K. Cahill of Rapid City, SD, her daughter Angela C. Cahill of Federal Way, WA, her parents Hugh and Nina Wynia of Hot Springs, SD, her sisters Barbara (David) Gulk of Rapid City, SD and Dorothy (Duane) Fowler of San Marcos, TX, her brothers Steve Wynia of Hot Springs, SD, Ron (Kim Bell) Wynia of Rapid City, SD and Dwight (Brenda) Wynia of Hot Springs, SD, sisters-in-law Debra (Milo) Kolda, Sturgis, SD and Barbara (John) Hauck, Tyndall, SD, numerous nieces and nephews and two great-nephews.
