
Everett W. Lindley 1919-1989
Funeral services for Everett Wilson Lindley, 70, Reliance, were at 9:30 am Tuesday, September 5, 1989, in the United Methodist Church, Reliance. The Reverend Bob Brown officiated. Burial was in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis.
Everett Wilson Lindley was born June 23, 1919, to Vina (Wilson) and Henry Lindley in Letts, Iowa. He attended Reliance elementary school and graduated from Reliance High School. He worked on the farm for a few years before moving to Grandview, Iowa in 1939.
A short time later, Mr. Lindley attended Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri for 14 months. He moved to Denver and worked for Armour Packing Company until enlisting in the Navy, serving from December 11, 1941 to March 2, 1946.
He returned to the Reliance area for a short time before attending the University of Iowa, where he graduated in the early '50's. He returned to South Dakota where he farmed and ranched with his father, and later on his own.
Mr. Lindley was a member of The Johnson-Peterson American Legion Post, the Lyman County Historical Society and the United Methodist Church in Reliance.
