Berniece Thietje Nutt 1918-2000

Berniece Lucille Nutt, age 81, of Brookings, SD died on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Oct, 28, 2000 with Rev. Scott Miller officiating.  Burial was in the Reliance Cemetery, Reliance, SD

Berniece Lucille Nutt was born on Dec. 26, 1918 in Relianceto Fred and Martha (Baumgart) Thietje.

Upon graduation from High School, she attended Mitchell Business College.  

She was united in marriage to Harold Maurer of Pukwana, SD on 9/17/41.  They had two children, Sherry and Paul.  Berniece became a medical stenographer in the  V.A. Hospital in Hot Springs, SD.  

After moving to Sioux Falls, she married Merritt E Nutt of Lennox, Feb. 10th, 1958.  A daughter was born to them.  Berniece was a secretary for adjudication at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls until her retirement in 1978.  She relocated to Brookings and entered the United Retirement Center in Jan., 1982.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church.  Until her death, she enjoyed flowers and playing the piano.

Berniece is survived by two daughters, Sherry Danielsen (Dick) of Brookings, Diane Winnepenninkx (Jerry) of Chancellor, one son, Paul Mauer (Karen) of Evergreen, Colorado, six grandchildren, two great-grand daughters; one step-grand daughter, three step-great- greatgrandsons; two sisters: Martha Powers of Miami, Fl and Lorraine Woodworth of Bremerton, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Walter, Elmer, Fred, and Lyle, and one sister Sophia.
