Ruth Hodgin Merkamp 1910-1986

Graveside services for Ruth Merkamp, 77, Hesperia, California, former area resident, were in Rosehill Memorial Park in Whittier, California.  A Memorial service was later in the Congregational Church in Hesperia.   She died July 2nd, in Hesperia.

She was born April 22, 1910. to Flora (Blanchard) and Alonzo A. Hodgin on a farm southeast of Reliance.  She received her education at East Cooper School and graduated from Reliance High School in 1929.

She married John Merkamp of White Lake on Nov. 22, 1930.  They lived near White Lake until moving to California in 1942.  On retirement, they moved to Hesperia.

She was an active member of The Congregational Church, Leisure Lrague, and the Owls Club.

Survivors include a son, Roger, of Fremont, California, a grandson, four brothers: Arthur Hodgin of White Lake, Harold Hodgin of Oacoma, Daniel Hodgin of Rockport, Texas, and John Hodgin of Santa Rosa, California; three sisters: Agnes Carlson of Hesperia, California, Sarah Harder of Rapid City, and Alice Kentch of Oacoma.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, and six brothers
