Jim was born in Elko, NV in 1948 to Frank Buckley and Barbara McCormick- Buckley. He graduated from Reno High School in the class of 1966. He enlisted in the US Army (not waiting to be drafted) and was in the 101st Airborne. He parachuted into many dangerous areas in Vietnam to secure the ground for troops to follow. His expertise with IBM System/38 and AS/400 enabled him to work as an independent contractor most of his life. He loved the freedom of working his own schedule and the variety of people he encountered.
He met his first wife, Elizabeth Bean-Buckley in San Diego CA. They moved to Baton Rouge LA where he taught computing for a business school. Their daughter, Stephanie, was born in 1974. Jim and his family returned to Reno to share their life with his father, Frank, and step-mother, Betty. They later moved to Yerington, where Jim contracted with local hospitals and casinos in rural Nevada.
Jim returned to the San Diego area in the late 80s, where he met his long-time love and companion, Elizabeth Geronimo-Malubay. They shared 30 years of love and life. Highlights included a 10 year stay in San Francisco. Jim loved San Francisco. He was able to return to attend his niece's wedding just 2 months before his passing.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Buckley, granddaughter, Laura Jo Buckley, both of St. Louis, MO, his sister, Barbara Dunn, of Reno, Elizabeth Buckley Seskas, of Reno, Elizabeth Geronimo-Malubay, and many of her loving relatives, of San Diego.
