Sandra Lee Emerson-Reyes of Reno, Nevada passed away on September 5th 2021. "Sandy" was born October 5th, 1948 in Oakland, California and attended Skyline High School before moving to Reno, Nevada where she graduated as part of Reno High School Class of 1966. She was preceded in death by her parents Dorinda Emerson and George I Emerson Jr. She leaves behind two daughters, Lisa Sturges and Stacy Norvelle, her grandson, Jared Robinson, and brothers Bill Emerson and Robert Keller. . She spent her working years as a legal secretary, a school library assistant and in the business and finance departments of various companies. Always smart and stylish, she handled things way above her title and her coworkers not only respected her, they created lasting friendships. She loved being a Grandmother! If you spent any time with her in recent years you likely felt like you personally met her grandson just through her stories. She was a real life Dr. Doolittle, caring for hundreds of animals in her lifetime. Cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, fish, even a baby bat made its way into her care. If you were lucky enough to witness her transform a scared animal then you saw her true gift. (And she might have gifted you with a new pet as well!) Sandy loved cooking for people, planting flowers, winning stuffed animals at the fair, cheering on her Raiders and phone conversations with longtime friends as far back as high school (she spoke of her Phi Mu sisters often). She was a skilled bowler and exceptionally gifted at embroidery. She had a gift for making things beautiful, especially during the holidays. And for the record, she made the best Lemon Meringue Pie ever! Hands down. She enjoyed a wide range of music. A super fan of Neil Diamond to be sure, she loved Motown, especially the girl groups, plus Leslie Gore, the Righteous Brothers, Beach Boys, Marc Anthony and so many more. She never missed an episode of Days of our Lives and was a fan of classic movie musicals, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers being a favorite, and Grease, where she absolutely preferred her namesake's character AFTER the transformation. She kept the keys to her first T-bird. Whoever has it now should know it's still hers in her heart. The family asks that you consider honoring her in whatever way is most meaningful to you and your memories of and with her. Perhaps a gift to your local humane society, botanical garden, or the Muscular Dystrophy Association so they can continue CMT/HNPP research.
