On January 10, 2024 Mike came to the conclusion that his Earth suit was completely worn out,
so he hopped in his beloved ‘66 Corvette and drove out to get a new one. We are going to
miss you terribly Mikey and we’ll see you in heaven.

He was born in Reno to his parents J.O. and Ruth on April 26, 1948 and “got away” as the Irish
say on January 10, 2024.

Mike loved Reno and was proud of the fact that he spent most of his life in the same
neighborhood. He always joked- “I’ve come a long way in life, about 12 blocks!”

Mike’s youth was spent growing up around Westfield Village. He could often be seen throwing
snowballs at cars, riding bikes on 7th Street with his buddies with their .22 rifles laid across
the handlebars, or running the roof trails in Berkeley that he made with his cousin Terry.
Things that probably should’ve gotten them all arrested.

Mike attended McKinley and Hunter Lake Elementary schools, Central Junior High and Reno
High, class of 1966. He then went on to graduate from UNR, Sigma Nu, earning a bachelors
degree in English Literature.

He worked his way through life at a variety of endeavors ranging from teaching middle school
English to hotel management at John Ascuaga‘s nugget, the Comstock, the Inn Town Motel
and the Red Carpet Motor Lodge where he met his close, personal friend Little Richard and a
host of other celebrities. His most recent job was with Calculated Industries in Carson City,
Nevada where he wore many hats, including public relations and marketing.

After retirement Mike kept himself busy with the things that he loved including birdwatching,
reading, baseball, making jerky, tinkering with his Corvette, and enjoying a few pints with his
friends at one of his favorite watering holes. He loved Nevada and knew a lot about her history.
He always looked forward to finding a new dirt road or the next big adventure around our
monotonously beautiful Nevada desert.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents J.O. and Ruth, his stepdad Howard, brothers Jim
and Owen Greenan and his stepson Cody.  In addition to his huge circle of treasured friends he is survived by his bride Diane, son Dillon, step daughter Amy (Jackson,) and his brother Bill (Joey.)

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, 1/24 at the Reno Elks Lodge from 2-5pm.
597 Kumle Lane - Reno, NV

In lieu of flowers there has been a gofundme established here: https://gofund.me/15c57486 to
help the family with unexpected expenses, or you can donate to your favorite local charity in
Mike’s name.

Cheers, no tears. -Marilyn Monroe
