Karen E. Watson, 67, passed away in her home in Pecan Plantation on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Pecan Plantation Club House. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Karen's name. She was born on Feb. 8, 1948, in Van Nuys, Calif. Her family moved to Reno, Nev., when she was a child. She graduated from Reno High School in 1966. Karen attended the University of Nevada in Reno where she graduated with a B.S. in botany. She lived most of her adult life in the Reno area where she was a successful real estate agent. She moved to Pecan in 2009 when her husband relocated his medical practice to Stephenville. Karen loved the Texas way of life. She was an accomplished snow skier, an avid golfer and an excellent cook. She enjoyed the arts and classical music. Karen had a wanderlust and traveled every chance she got. Her favorite place to vacation was Paris. She made over 15 trips and loved to blend in with the locals. She also traveled to Hawaii, Russia, the Baltic, the Mediterranean and South America. She had an adorable wit and wonderful sense of humor. Her warm personality made everyone around her comfortable. Survivors: She is survived by her mother, Dorothy E. Johnson, Pecan Plantation; her brother, Art Johnson, Hawthorne, Nev.; her husband, Dr. David W. Watson; stepson, Scott Watson, his wife, Nancy, and their girls, Rory and Dani; stepson, Kendall, his wife, Carla, and their son, Ian; stepdaughter, Lindsey and her husband, John, and their girls, Elly and Gracee; and stepson, Justin. The grandchildren will miss their "Gramma Karen."
