December 09, 2019--Hello RHS Classmates: I just received the news of Jim Kemp's passing. I knew Jim Kemp from the time we were kids chasing basketballs and baseballs. He lived in the same neighborhood as I did around Valley Road. So that meant that he and I along with many others would hang around together, participate in various sport activies, be on the same teams, go to the same schools. I can still remember when Jim, I, and others would go up to the Old Gym at UNR to play basketball on the weekends and during the evenings. The university let us play basketball there. So yes I am sad to hear of Jim's passing. He was always the great athlete that I wished I could be. I respected Jim for a lot of reasons. He was and is a good man. We send our condolences to the Jim Kemp Family and to his friends. Best Regards Doug and Mary Piirto (aka Dr. Doug and Ms. Mary)
I knew Jim in Jr. High at Central and we went to on to High School. I lost touch with him after graduation, but ran into him at a dance at the Peppermint Lounge. We dated a couple of times while I was attending UNR. It was never serious between us, but we always had a good time together. I remember Jim as being part of the in -crowd at school, because of his athleticism. I’m very sorry to hear of his passing. Vicki (Cheesman) Williams
