Charles P. McKenna III known to all of us as the Reverend Stead Bud left us on June 24, 2004. Bud passed away at his home in Stead of natural causes.
A native of Reno, born May 24, 1948, he lived here most of his life. He also lived in California and Oregon.
Stead Bud was a charter member of the Branded Few Motorcycle Club. Having been a member for 35 years. He was the club’s ambassador to the Northern Nevada Confederation of Clubs and rode his Harley to the national meetings yearly. He had been Santa Claus for the local toy runs for a number of years. Stead Bud was the Elder Statesman who never stopped working to make a better life for us all.
Stead Bud was a Reverend of the Church of the Free Highway. As a licensed minister, he officiated at numerous marriages, baptisms, funerals and counseled many bikers and non-bikers on matters of the heart and mind. Stead Bud was there for all who needed him and his sage advice.
Stead Bud was employed by the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist for 19 years. He had just been named employee of the month for July, 2004. Bud was active in the American Federal Governmant Employees Union Local 2152 and he was also the People with Disability Special Program Manager.
Stead Bud is survived by his daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandsons. Stead Bud was father, uncle, and godfather to many children and adults.
A Memorial Service will be held at Glendale Park in Sparks, Nevada on 10 July, 2004 at 9 am. All are welcomed to come and celebrate this “Larger than Life Man”. The Reverend Rick Eckhardt of the Royal Priesthood MC will be officiating. The family has requested donations be made in lieu of flowers. If you send flowers however, please send them to the Secretary of the Branded Few MC FatBob’s residence, 1190 Barstow Street, Remo.
