Donald Roy Newton, 52, of Reno, Nevada, died on Sunday, August 5, 2001, at his residence.
Born March 16, 1948, in Santa Rita, New Mexico, to Gerald and Helen Newton. He attended Reno schools and graduated from Reno High School.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Newton; grandmother, Ruth Hilts; son Mykal Newton; and his mother Helen.
He is survived by his daughter Heidi Newton of Spokane, Wash,; brother, Hal Newton; nephew, Jerry Newton; several aunts, uncles and lots of friends, especially Ed and Bonnie Eldridge of Lemmon Valley.
Don belonged to the No. Nevada Carpenters Union and worked on several large projects, such as Circus, Circus.
Don loved the outdoors; hunting in No. Washoe, fishing at Pyramid Lake and rodeoing. He joined the Washoe County Search and Rescue in the mid 70's and helped find people lost in the wilderness.
The family held a gathering for daughter, Heidi on Sunday. Don will be buried at the Masonic Memorial Gardens.
