James “Billy” William Slaughter, husband, friend, brother, and stepdad died March 19, 2005 of heart failure. He was born October 25, 1945 in Charlottesville, VA to Temple C. Slaughter and Marjorie Barber Slaughter.
He attended Longfellow School for Boys in Bethesda, MD from 1958 to 1962. After moving to Reno, he attended Reno High School. After graduating he enlisted in the USMC Reserves and later the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1969.
He moved to Mississippi to attend the University of Mississippi. After college, he returned to Reno and worked as a black jack and craps dealer for 30 years. He acquired a pilots license and enjoyed flying his plane for many years. He also collected old cars.
He is survived by his wife Mary Slaughter; stepson John; and a sister, Sallie Boggs of PA.
He shall be forever missed and remembered as a loving husband and friend who cherished life. Cremation will be cared for by Family Options of S. Lake Tahoe, CA. There will not be any services. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at a later time.
