In Memory

John Buchanan

John Buchanan

John passed on July 10, 2023.  We owe John our gratitude for tasking himself with organizing our 50th, 53rd and 55th class reunions. He also created and maintained our class website giving all of us a platform for communicating with one another.

As Terry and I worked with John on the reunions, the three of us developed a true friendship. John was a fine Christian man, and I know all of us will miss him.

As a new student to RHS, there weren't many people I got to know well, but you couldn't help but know who John was!  He seemed to have so many talents and abilities.....and he was so nice!  I truly appreciate the work he put into this website and I will miss his caring presence.  My sympathy for his family and all who loved him.

Like for others, was very sad to learn of John's passing. I was fortunate to have my last two high school years at Richardson. He was such as leader of his high school class and kept on as a leader keeping us all informed thru the web based class newsletter. We will miss John.

I grew up in, and now live in California.  I only attended RHS the second half of our senior year.  During our senior year, and now many years later, John made a huge effort in making me not feel like an outsider.  He's the reason we attended a reunion or two.  I'm so grateful to John for all of that.

To say I was very sorry to hear of John's passing would be a gross understatement. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Linda, his family and all his many friends on the loss of a really great guy. His contributions to our class will never be forgotten.

John was always a source of strength and determination and a model of an all around great guy.  I don't know how many of you are aware that through running our last reunions and spearheading this web site,he suffered from chronic renal failure and required dialysis several times per week.  Despite that burden he managed to keep good humor and focus.  Condolences Linda as I'm sure you were instrumental in his ability to deal with these issues.

I like what Julien wrote: " . . . a model of an all around great guy." John was a noble man. A leader in general, and in morals and ethics. He stood by his principles not with rigidity, but with kindness and understanding. The planet, and we who knew him have lost someone important. I cannot imagine John saying or doing anything base or unkind. I pray for his family. There is no easy way through this.
