The following obituary information was provided by Ralph Norman on 5/13/15.

 

Stephen Tom (Steve) Smith-November 24th, 1944-January 20th, 1997. Steve attended Hillcrest High School in Dallas during his sophomore and junior years before transferring to Richardson High School for his senior year. Following graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served from September 24th, 1963 until his discharge on July 2nd, 1975. At the time of his death, he was a cashier at a grocery store. Steve was survived by his mother, Della Faye Smith, with whom he shared a residence in Hurst, TX. at the time of his death. Funeral arrangements were made through Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, and he was interred at Restland Memorial Cemetery. Obituary, Ft. Worth Star Telegram, January 23rd, 1997.

Most of you will remember Steve as one of our cheerleaders during our senior year.  I personally didn't know him well, but always thought of him as a very nice guy.  I truly appreciate his service to our Nation through the time served in the Navy.  May he rest in peace!

Omg...Iam so sorry to hear this.  Steve was a good friend, not afraid to channel his since of humor and blaze the trail of one of our first male cheerleaders.  He showed up every day with a smile, he brought a lot of joy and friendship to our class.

This makes me so sad. Steve was such a fun guy. I enjoyed his great sense of humor! We shared alot of laughs and  fun memories during our senior year. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Susan Turner Stone
