I'm enjoying the discussion that we are having here. Since our 10 year reunion is a milestone event, let's consider having a Summer and Fall event. For example, our main event could be in the Fall, but we could have a low-cost (maybe even a potluck) summer cookout or BBQ at a park. As an additional group outing, we could go to a Martinsville/MV game.

Having multiple opportunities to reconnect may provide some flexibility for our classmates who are out of state. Let me know what you all think.

I will send out an email to you all when our planning committee gets started.

I think it would be great to have multiple opportunities to get together. I'm afraid I wouldn't have a lot of flexibility to be able to get together in the fall because of our season tickets to Virginia Tech games, but at least I'd know I could attend one function. Plus, after the bbq, anyone that wanted to could go out somewhere together to hang out.

This summer (August) we should have a weekend event. For example, a dinner on a Saturday night then a picnic on a Sunday afternoon. Then in the fall for those that can attend we should do the MV/Mville football game.

Hello everyone. I was thinking of everyone maybe going out on a Friday or Saturday night and then on Saturday or Sunday we do a family get together whether it is a cookout, etc. What does everyone think??

Hey guys. I have been e-mailing E-Man. I was thinking that Friday we should do family day with a cookout and games at the park and then football that night. Then on Saturday night a formal dinner for us adults. Maybe we could get Linwood or Chatmoss to sponsor our reunion and donate their facility. It only cost $35 to rent the park for a day. If we get the club donated then we would only have to pay for the DJ, dinner and drinks. We may be able to get a DJ to sponsor the event as well. We need to plan a good time for everyone close to meet and start really planning. Just let me know. I can not wait to see everyone!

I agree with Anna about activities in August and a game in the fall. Michelle, a day at the park would be fun (and that's an excellent price). I think it would be hard for a lot of people to come during the day on a Friday though. And it would be great if we could get a facility to sponsor our reunion, that's a neat idea. We should definitely look into Lynwood or Bassett or Chatmoss country clubs.

I'm excited to have a meeting to work out all the details. Looking forward to getting this all planned!

I talked with Adam and he told me who to ask at Linwood. I figured we could start there since a lot of guys in our class were golfers there. Maybe we could do the park day on a Sat or Sun. Just throwing ideas out there. Adam also is going to check with Bill about donating food for the cookout whenever we decide to have it.

Hello everyone. My dad is the vice president of the board at Lynwood Country Club and he said he would ask to see if he can get a discount on the room at Lynwood for the reunion. I know with the economy being kind of tough, a lot of people are not donating rooms because they need the money for their business. I believe Lynwood is $250 to rent the room for the night. If you could get it half off that would help. I had my wedding reception there and I had a great DJ and caterer. The DJ I believe was $200 or $250 for the night and I had a complete dinner for $20/person. The Gallery was the caterer of my wedding. These are just a few ideas. Even if you had to pay $400 for the club/DJ, you could still have a nice night for around $30/person. Hope everyone is well. I don't know if my husband and I will be able to make the reunion, but I will be glad to try and get a place for everyone to be able to get together. 1,000 miles is a long way from home. I can't complain about the weather though,it is a sunny 86 today in Miami! Take care!

Hey guys, I am in Mville until Monday morning, got here today - later than I wanted (6pm) rough day. And I left my cell phone in Williamsburg, not been a good day at all. So if any of you are planning on meeting, post it, or send me a message and I will try to make it. Sorry if anyone has tried to call me.

We also have a MySpace page for the Class of '99 that I started for us.

www.myspace.com/MVHSclass99reunion

I would like to suggest that we pick one weekend with several events. I think that we need to take into consideration our classmates who live far away. I believe that they would be more likely to be able to come for one fun-filled weekend than if they had to choose between two weekends.

I would like to gather as many classmates as possible together at one time rather than splitting up into separate reunions in the summer and fall. Most reunions have a casual Friday night BYOB gathering at somewhere like the Firemen's Cabin at the reservoir, a Saturday or Sunday picnic in a park for family gatherings, and a dinner/dance on Saturday night at either a nice restaurant with a bar such as Dutch Inn or Rania's or one of the country clubs.

I think that Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 4 and 5 would be an ideal time. Most people have a long weekend from work and more people that have a long distance to travel may be able to come. I think it is important that we set a date and book the locations as soon as possible. I know that the class of '89 are planning their reunion on the weekend of Aug. 8, and they have already booked Jack Dalton Park and Rania's Restaurant.

Matt I think you have the right idea!!! I do agree with you especially since im one of the people who live far away,it needs to be one weekend! I think labor day is good except we would be competing with a lot of other bookings for family events in the parks and clubs in the area because it's labor day! Also I love the breakdown of the day to day events you have I think we need to act fast because it will be here before we know it!!

Michelle George (Jamison)

Altho Mat does have good ideas but Labor day might be hard for some cause most go out of town, or go to the beach. Also the Firemen Cabin, yeah that is a cool place and all and I have used it for my Bday party. But there isn't a lot of room for people to park and the building is rather small. Plus you have to cross the creek and some people might not like that. I do agree we need to book the dates fast
