After getting my BA from UW-Stevens Point, I did outdoor and Environmental Ed for a few years working in state and national parks, and random education centers in Washington, Maine, and Wisconsin. (94-2001) Got my MA from PLU (Pacific Lutheran University) in 2002. Been teaching 7th and 8th grade science for the last few years at Port Susan Middle School in Stanwood, Wa. Work is about 1 hour north of Seattle. My "cabin" is on the west shores of Camano Island. Kelms seem to like it. Kids like the beach.

Camping in the Porkies was so much fun! Who can forget the pile of people we had in the tent trying to stay warm! I decided to do it a lot more of that stuff. After a couple trips to South Dakota, Colorado andTennessee with Jason Doffin, I decided to do a lot more of it. I don't do as much as I used to, but did squeeze in a 5 day-56 mile solo trip in the North Cascades this summer, boasting my longest day with a full pack - about 20 miles. Kayaking the San Juans and sledding in the North Cascades with Kelm's this past June was far more memorable though.
