So another member of the class of '69 has "graduated".  broken heart

Eileen was in some of my classes.  We were not very close friends, but what I remember about her most is that she was such a tiny little pixie! "Short and sweet"  -- friendly to everyone.  Rest in peace, Eileen.

I didn't know Eileen well, we didn't have any classes together or take the same bus or belong to the same clubs at Mercy or go to the same senior year retreat.  I really only knew her through Mary Cappasso who we were both friends with at the time.  She had that pretty face with the map of Ireland all over it and her daughter is her spitting image. She was always pleasant and kind, kind of quiet, always the lady.  She had a long, hard struggle with cancer and God has finally taken her and put an end to her misery.  Despite the fact that we weren't close she took the time to send me a thoughtful email of encouragement and a promise of prayers when she heard my Charlie was battling cancer even though she was going through her own battle with it, something very few of my classmates, who I did know well, ever did.  I think that speaks to the person she was.  Thank you, Eileen and rest in eternal peace.  You have earned your place in heaven.

Eileen always had a warm smile, very giving, everyone who was friends with her, felt like they were her best friend.  Eileen would go out of her way for birthdays & Christmas she would find a special gift for each fiend.                                                                                                                                                                Some of the Bus rides home from Mercy were rough, no thanks to the mean girls who rode it with her and Mary. To those who participated, you might have thought you were being funny & just having fun, but you were mean, bullies.                                                                                                                                                             Eileen was very mischievous, she had that sweet & innocent face. During HS summers she would hop fences at night with fiends & swim in other peoples pools. She knew how to enjoy life & shared her enthusiasm with her friends. I miss getting together, going to our favorite restaurants, Mario's & Carnival Pizza. I was lucky to travel with her to Ireland, going on my first of many, Royal Caribbean cruise with our spouses.                              Shortly after Eileen was diagnosed with breast cancer, Mary Cappasso & I participated in the 3 day, 60 mile Avon Breast Cancer walk from Bear Mountain & walking on the George Washington Bridge in support of Eileen. I had the honor to walk with Eileen 2 years later in the Avon 60 mile 3day walk.                                                    I still miss our weekly phone conversations & getting together.
