Billy only went to Mercy with us for two years, I believe; freshman and sophomore year. He was in the 1-2 and then the 2-2 class. He went on to graduate from the J. F. Kennedy High School in Port Jefferson Station. Tragically, Bill died only 3 years after graduation, in a single car accident on Route 25a in Setauket. It is believed he lost control of his car while navigating a curve in the road and hit either a telephone pole or a tree.

I remember Bill as a smart, quiet kid, who was one of the "cut-ups", in sophomore year that provided all of us with a lot of laughs. I still remember him and Bruce Kasold turning Peggy Fuchs' desk around, with her in it, in the middle of Sister Jeremiah's religion class in sophomore year. Peggy sat there helplessly facing the back of the classroom while we all faced the front. And they did it so innocently. What? Is there a problem, Sister? Who, me? In his graduation photo he looks like quite the serious guy, but it belies his true personality!

Billy may not have graduated with us from Mercy, but he will always be a member of the Class of '69! May he rest in peace! I'll see you on the other side, Bill!
