I am not now, have never been, nor will I ever be caustic. I have no earthly idea where this is coming from. I remember my youthful years helping widows and children, working for world peace, seeking the eradication of injustice, blah, blah, blah. Okay, maybe I was a tad bit cynical (or even caustic). Regardless, I am looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Yes, that is exactly how I remember your services to the indigent & needy... not! But, that is why it will so much fun to touch base again....this just sounds better & better.

How about a memory for everyone out there....... It's New Year's Day 1969 and Meehan and the guys decide to come to my house to watch the bowl games. There isn't much in the fridge, so John, and I think Hodges, tell me they are going to the store to get some food. Instead they go to some of the neighbors and inform the neighbors that my mother has lost her job. The next day neighbors start bringing food over to the house to " help the poor indigent folks with no food and no visible means of support". Of course my mother, who had a good job with a law firm, had not lost her job and when asked by the neighbors if she needed any help, went crazy. I paid for that one for weeks. Thanks John! Usually all I had to say was, "It was Meehan" and that would bring about an understanding nod and total absolution. I even started to use it when John wasn't involved. Ah, memories!

Quit making me laugh out loud...Steven already thinks that I have a problem, & you guys aren't making it any easier...I bet you got good casseroles, didn't you?
John Meehan sounds like a samaritan, doesn't he?....but with a bit of the devil, which we love!

Patti Jackson (Weeks)

Now, Steven made me laugh out loud, because he said that the forum is our fore-play for the "big event" to come!
How right he is! Y'all turn me on & I'm so excited!

Patti Jackson (Weeks)

Okay John,
You're starting to piss me off! I feel as though I'm fairly erudite, but you have made me pull out my dictionary to know what you've said, even though the idea comes across!
I've always had very loving feelings toward you...I don't know why...you're just lovable...but, we're communicating here, & I don't know who else would pull out their dictionary to find out what "engrams" means!
My brain has been taxed to the max over the last 40 yrs.,
trying to deal with all the distractions that I have fed it, so try to talk to us common folk in a language that doesn't require a dictionary! Love you!

It's almost 9:30 I have to go to bed.

Mike,
Where does it hurt? I'll give it a rub. You'll be ok!

Hey Patti,
Don't feel bad a lot of us are in the same boat when it comes to the dictionary thing. You have to realize that John is probably the most intelligent being that any of us know, or will ever know in our lifetime. Any subject that you can think of, John can communicate with you with the utmost intelligence, and help you to understand what your talking about. I have looked up to John since I met him in the first grade(me being the little guy) at Saint Frances Elementary. John and I would go to the 7-11 on Park Ave or the pharmacy accross the street, and eat a hot dog or if we didn't have enough $, we'd order a bag of chips and a couple of squirt bottles of mustard. John was always my protector and he was oh so smart. And lets not forget Johns Mother she was always so nice to me( I really mean that part). We would ride our bikes over to Dave Ellrich's house on Teal way,go to Lotts tackle. See I got off on a tangent, I guess that's what John was talking about.....that loggori something.

At first I was upset when I read those remarks that John wrote, about the 3thing and missing that class, the loggri thing and there was another that I guess my brain(as little as it must be) must be suppressing to protect me.And as I write this, I start thinkig, John will probably correct my grammer, punctuation and spelling.I thought for awile and then it came to me. John had said in his writings, that he was fond of me,so now I understand he is only trying to help me. He is still my protector, mentor and corrector.

Thanks John I now have a better perception, you are only trying to help, like a parent from afar. THANK YOU

So you see Patti, John will never change,he is trying to help us all with our vocabulary. Especially those of us that don't have spellcheck or a firm grasp of the english language.

So PLEASE,lets all give John a BIG round of applause....

Have a WOW day,

JIMMY

John....I don't drink anymore

Patti Jackson (Weeks)

That's great Mike,
I'm glad that you don't drink any more...Steven & I don't drink any less!

Patti Jackson (Weeks)

Jim (or may I also call you Jimmy?),
Your tribute to John is stellar! John will get your humor with all those little flaws, if I got what you meant earlier, but if I didn't...I'm not very astute. It was great talking to you, & yes, you're right, this blogging is the best, but a voice is a awfully nice...

John,
Words stick with us at times, & you know I'm only yanking your chain! I love looking up words in the dictionary...you're never too old to learn...in fact, when I graduated from FSU, I had a job as a cocktail waitress in Tallahassee, & I started feeling education-deprived...my parents always did crossword puzzles, which I disdained, but I started doing the daily crossword puzzles...I learned more about world geography, famous people...I can't say...but, what eluded me forever were words...procrastinate, prevaricate, matriculate, masticate...these are common words for crossword puzzle wannabe's. Well, several crossword dictionaries & years later, I probably learned more from this exercise than my college education!
Now, I did get pissed off when Doug Willis would come by to visit my parents, & say that he did the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle in ink. I still do it in pencil, but am proud to say that I do finish most of them...but I usually have to use the dictionary for something.
When I joined the Navy (at 30) as a data processor (what a boring job...still using punch cards), at my first station, I made up a game for our office. Every day, someone had to come in with a "word" for everyone to see if they knew what it meant....we had alot of fun, because it became a contest! Words are great!

I have a tendency to go a bit overboard at times! The rest of you need to keep me in line!

Patti- thanks for not being offended. I should have written you privately. Didn't think of it until it was too late. Hope you keep up the chatter here.. you add a lot of zest to the site.

I haven't been on this blog for a while and Holy God; what's happened? We all had very nice exchanges and now it's like we're back in high school! How cool is that?!? I'm thrilled that Mike Engel doesn't drink anymore. Folks like Mike are worth their weight in gold for those of us that do imbibe, albeit moderately (that ok, Patti?) I had a great chat with Jim Metcalf last night (never called him Jimmy-where did that come from; although I'm 58 and people still call me Chip-go figure). Can't wait to see you guys. I'm looking forward to working the registration table and meet friends I haven't seen in 40 years.

Patti Jackson (Weeks)

Hey Chip,
I love albeit!
You're my next best friend!

04/18/09 10:33 PM #128

Patti Jackson (Weeks)

You know,
These chats are the most fun I've had in ages....It reminds me of the "Foundation Trilogy", Isaac Isamov, where our only contact with other human beings is like what we're doing now....computers! Thank goodness we're not hermaphrodites, yet!
I don't know where I was going with that, but it feels rather relevant.

I spoke to Doug Willis today, & asked him to update his profie & have Frannie to do the same...He's coming if he is going to be in town...Same from Greg Barnhart..
Oh!,
If Nick Lioce is going to be in our midst for the weekend, why hasn't he updated his profile? One of you get onto him!

04/20/09 05:27 PM #130

Patti Jackson (Weeks)

No way! Dementia is dealing me a dirty deal! Sorry, Nick!
I didn't quite remember it that way, but I think I'll be saying that alot!

Hey Jim,

YOU are a BIG gun, so tackle Pat & get his but to come to one of the biggest weekends he will ever, ever experience!

There ain't gonna be no more high school 40th reunions after this one! So you can do it Jimmy,.. if you can't do it, nobody can!

Put the heat on. You don't need our help, we are all behind you. Like I said before... we are all on the same RBHS team and will always be for the rest of our lives,... so when you talk to our fellow class mates/team mates, talk to them from your heart & our hearts, give it your best shot with the spirit from all our previous forum revelations .....

And if they refuse or can't make up their mind, either they need some time to look in the mirror and make their own decision,..... Or they just ain't got what the rest of us got and that is the love to see once again the friends that helped mold our lives regardless of how well we new each other... regardless of what interest we may have had back then, .... regardless of our view points... and regardless of our race.

This is our chance to celebrate that we have made it and to remember where we came from and what we all went through during our most memorable and formative years together, and to also honor those no longer with us.

So, Jimmy, YOU can do it!

...And I am getting so way far out of character that I feel I may never be able to get my mocker back, so Meehan, McLaughlin, Wilson, Robinson, Rhine, Ellrich, Carter do something..... I'm melting!

Doll
