ESTES, Robert Carrington, of Richmond, died Monday, January 28, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Wellford S. Estes of Roanoke, Va. He is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie Anne Estes; mother, Mary Ann Estes; brother, John Estes; uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Howard P. Estes Sr.; and cousins, Howard P. Estes Jr. and Sissy Estes, all of Richmond, Va. Bob was universally loved by his many friends and his family, and equally respected by those he worked with over the years. He followed in his father's footsteps by applying his strong work ethic and likeable personality to protecting the environment as a leader at the Virginia DEQ. Bob showed a passion for life through his love for Stephanie and their dogs and by his continuous quest for lively conversation, travel, music, and great food and drink. Bob will live on in the rich memories of all those who were so fortunate to have had him as a part of their lives. His remains rest at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
