40 years, it seems like a lot of living and loving has happened since high school. The highlight is meeting my wife, Lynn (Salem High School grad 1980), in college at UVA. We have 3 kids, Jack (27), Leah (25) and Kallie (23) and have been married 32 years. Like so many profiles of classmates I have read, we are truly blessed to have such fine kids. Lynn and I wanted to raise our kids in Roanoke and moved back in 1995 after spending 10+ years in the Baltimore/DC area. We moved back just in time for our third child, Kallie, to be born in Roanoke much to the delight of grandparents.
As for work, it has been a continual process of downsizing. After college, I spent a year working for behemoth General Electric in Lynchburg developing the first cellular telephone. I then went to graduate school and moved to Baltimore area to work for Lockheed Martin for 5 years designing large land robots. I then continued to downsize moving to Oceaneering (still in the Baltimore/DC area) for 7 years building underwater robots. During this time, I started working with a very small Italian company that specializes in repairing dams around the world and eventually started the U.S. version of the company. Our company Carpi has continued to grow and I have worked on projects across the USA and Canada and 4 other continents.
