After college I began working as a Youth Counselor at The Virginia Baptist Children's Home in Salem, where I worked for 15 years. I dabbled in some restaraunt/bartending and comedy part time. I moved from kids to running a women's shelter for victims of domestic violence and women transitioning back into the community after leaving treatment or prison, trying to get back on their feet. I finally moved from non-profit to work with the Deparment of Juvenile Justice as a Probation Officer and Gang Specialist.

Presently the President of the Virginia Juvenile Justice Association and the Chair of RAYSAC (the Roanoke Area Substance Abuse Coalition).
